Part 17

Follow the lava around and off the lavafall to encounter Enfuego Chompies, which self-destruct. You have a few seconds to kill them or get out of the way.

Smash through orange crystals and drop down the lavafall to a large semicircular area.

Drop off the largest gap nearest the screen, then off the left side of the next pool.

In the Burnt Depths, Smoltergeist offers an optional game of Skystones. He uses "Mace Major 2", "Chompy 2", 2 "Mace Major", and "Boom Fiend" for his fire stone.

The "Boom Fiend" Skystone is your reward for beating Smoltergeist. He can be rematched for a chance to win another stone or coins.

Bounce back up and drop off the right side down a two-stream lavafall.

Drop off the south side all the way down a line of coins above a bounce pad.

Go left to find a Treasure Chest behind orange crystals in the corner.

Bounce back up and drop off the north edge into a pool with two blocks and a light crystal.

Push the blocks but do not push them off the edge. Push the light crystal off the edge to a puzzle below.

Push the block in the middle to the right and then up once.

Push the crystal you just pushed off south twice and right once.

Push the crystal in the south down once and one right.

Push the block north of it right once.

Push the top crystal down twice.

Push the right crystal down once into the beam of light, then left once to complete the puzzle. This opens a gate to a teleporter.

The teleporter takes you to an Ambush! An Evil Sunburn will attack. He is fast and teleports, so watch out for him getting behind you and blasting you with fire breath. Long-distance attacks are better, but you need to be fast to move out of his way when he teleports.

After defeating the Evil Sunburn, a gate will open, granting access to a teleporter and a Present for the Fireman's Helmet.

Teleport back to the start of the area and walk back up the chain.

Slide down the left chain.

Squish the Frigid Chompies and waves of enemies that attack.

Use bombs to blow up the Bag O'Boom that is up high.

Do not push the moveable block; leave it where it is. Use the Bounce Pads to bounce up into an ice bowl.

Use your momentum to slide off the bottom side of the bowl just left of where you entered.

If you left the block where it was, you can gather Thumpback's Soul Gem "Blowhard". If not, push it back, but do not push it off the side yet.

Jump down to the right and push the block left.

Go back up to the ice bowl and slide back off the same section.

Push that block off the side and mash open the Treasure Chest.

Bounce up and enter the cave on the left.

In the Icy Drain, you will find Auric.
