Walkthrough

    Go through the hole in the wall into another hallway. Head for cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects) (protection from enemy fire) fast as you'll be overwhelmed and exposed.

    Go down the stairs to the left, kill any enemies in the way and hide under the stairs to recuperate.

    A helicopter will appear. After some communications chatter, its health bar will be visible in the top right of your HUD (heads-up display — the on-screen icons showing health, ammo and the minimap) (Heads-Up Display).

    Head outside and shoot the helicopter down. It can be dropped with 2 clips from any assault rifle.

    Take out any remaining enemies.

    Head up to the second floor and follow the balcony to the right.

    In the far right-hand corner, find a room with a hole in the floor. Drop through the hole.

    Go forward, down the stairs, and out through the doorway into another hallway.

    A machine gunner will be positioned over a mound, with enemies on the upper balconies. Trigger the machine gunner to shoot at you, then run back to the entrance you came in.

    The door will lock behind you, and some stalkers (friendly NPCs - Non-Player Characters) will come to your aid, sealing off entrances.

    Kill any enemies that try to get through, including the machine gunner.

    You will eventually be told to go into the catacombs, and the door you entered through will open again.

  • Be ready to use cover immediately after going through the first hole in the wall.
  • The helicopter can be shot down from cover.
  • If you hide after the helicopter encounter, more enemies will come looking for you.
  • To deal with the machine gunner, lure him into firing, then retreat to the entrance to trigger a trap that locks the door.
