Healing the Sick

Learn how to heal your partner from the Blood Plague in State of Decay 2. This guide covers finding the cell tower, surveying sites, gathering materials, and building an infirmary.

Alright, so you've just snagged a new home base in State of Decay 2, and guess what? Your partner's got the Blood Plague. Bummer, right? Don't sweat it, though. The first thing you gotta do is chat with the doctor. They'll point you towards a nearby cell tower that's key to finding the materials you need to build an infirmary. This is gonna be your main goal for now.

First up, pull up your map and find that cell tower. Set a waypoint and head over there. Once you arrive, you'll see a ladder – climb it all the way to the top. Now, get your gun out (right-click on PC) and enter Survey Mode. You'll need to keep your cursor locked onto each marked site until the survey is complete before you can move to the next one. Keep at it until you've surveyed at least three sites that look promising for materials, or just survey all of them if you're feeling thorough.

Once you're done surveying, open your map again. You should now see three mission-related points of interest marked with special icons. Pick the one that looks easiest or closest, set a waypoint, and go check it out. Inside, you'll find three containers. You need to search through all of them to gather the building materials. After you've got what you need, it's time to head back to your base. Drop the materials off at the Manage Storage station.

Now, with the materials stored, bring up your base blueprints by pressing 'B'. Find an empty spot and choose where you want to build your new infirmary. This building project will take about 6 minutes in real-time. While that's cooking, you'll get a couple of optional objectives. One is to search nearby sites for more supplies, which is always a good idea. The other, a bit trickier, is to recover supplies from that car you ditched earlier. To get it running again, you'll need to find a gas can to refuel it.

Once the infirmary is finally built, head inside and check your partner in. This will pause the Blood Plague's progression, giving you some breathing room. Just remember, you'll need to keep that medicine stocked up, or eventually, you'll want to work on crafting a full cure.
