Master the Smithy boss fight in Super Mario RPG (2023) with this comprehensive guide. Learn Smithy's phases, weaknesses, and effective strategies to win.

Stats / Weaknesses:

• Smithy (Overall): Recommended Level 22, 1,500 HP, No Weakness
• Smelter: 400 HP, Weak to Lighting (Resistant to Fire)
• Shyper: 400 HP
• Smithy Main Body: 1,000 HP, No Weakness (Resistant to all except Physical)
• Smithy Head: 8,000 HP, Weak to Lighting (Tank form), Ice (Casket form), Fire (Treasure Chest form)
• Note: Status effects do not work on Smithy.

Phases:

1. Phase 1: Weapon Production Area
   • Fight Smithy, his Smelter, and Shypers.
   • Focus on defeating the Smelter first, as it summons more Shypers.
   • Use Mallow's Thunderbolt or Shocker against the Smelter (it's weak to Lightning and resistant to Fire).
   • Shypers have 400 HP and can use Sword Rain. Use Bowser's Terrorize to reduce damage.
   • Heal frequently with Peach's Therapy and Group Hug.
   • Use Geno Boost to increase party defense, as only Fire Saber can be blocked from Smithy.
   • Once Smithy is defeated, the arena changes for Phase 2.
2. Phase 2: Smithy's Body and Head
   • Smithy splits into a Main Body (1,000 HP) and a Head (8,000 HP). Both can attack.
   • The Head changes forms:
     • Tank Form: Most dangerous, uses the instant K.O. move Magnum. Weak to Lightning.
     • Casket Form: Uses Recover (heals) and Shredder (removes buffs). Weak to Ice. Resistant to Lightning, Jump, and Fire.
     • Treasure Chest Form: Resistant to Lightning. Weak to Fire.
     • Wizard Form: Has many moves, most unblockable except Dark Star. No specific weaknesses but resistant to all except Physical.
   • Switch party members based on Smithy's current form to exploit weaknesses. For example, use Mallow for Lightning attacks against the Tank form, or Bowser for physical damage when Wizard form is active.
   • Use items like Rock Candy for high damage to both parts.
   • Prioritize destroying the Main Body to reduce incoming damage.
   • Use Peach's Come Back when the Tank form uses Magnum to revive fallen allies.
   • Heal constantly with items and Peach.
   • Use Geno Boost for attack buffs.
   • Energizers can boost attack, Red Essence grants temporary immunity, and Pick Me Ups can revive Peach.
   • The battle ends when Smithy monologues about his defeat.

Strategy:

• Adapt your party composition and attacks based on Smithy's current form in Phase 2.
• Prioritize eliminating the Smelter in Phase 1, then focus on Smithy.
• In Phase 2, destroy the Main Body first, then focus on the Head.
• Heal proactively and use defensive buffs like Geno Boost.
• Utilize items like Rock Candy for significant damage.
• Keep Peach ready to revive or heal with Come Back and Group Hug.
