Walkthrough: CREO Institute

Welcome, operative, to the CREO Institute – a labyrinth of scientific ambition and technological horror. This section will guide you through its treacherous halls, ensuring you uncover its secrets and survive its deadly inhabitants.

Initial Entry and Lobby

Upon entering the CREO Institute, you'll find yourself in a grand, yet decaying, lobby. Immediately to your left is a MedBay. Utilize it to heal, upgrade, and store any excess Tech Scrap. Remember to bank your scrap frequently, as death in the Institute can be particularly punishing.

• First Encounter: As you proceed through the lobby, you'll be ambushed by two CREO Security Guards. These enemies are equipped with the RHINO Gear Set and wield RHINO Heavy Duty Weapons. Focus on dismembering their arms for weapon drops and their body parts for schematics.
• Looting the Lobby:
  • Check behind the reception desk for a Small Tech Scrap Cache and a Medi-Voltaic Injection.
  • To the right of the main entrance, you'll find a locked door. This requires a Security Keycard (Level 1), which you'll acquire later.

Research Wing - West

Head through the double doors on the left side of the lobby to enter the West Research Wing. Be prepared for increased enemy density and new threats.

• Corridor Ambush: The first corridor is patrolled by a CREO Scientist (Corrupted) wielding a CREO Staff. These enemies are fast and can inflict elemental damage. Prioritize dismembering their weapon arm.
• Data Log Discovery: In the first laboratory on your left, you'll find a Data Log: "Project Utopia - Phase 1" on a terminal. This provides crucial lore and hints about the Institute's purpose.
• Security Keycard (Level 1): Continue through the lab and defeat the CREO Security Guard guarding the next doorway. This guard will drop the Security Keycard (Level 1). Immediately return to the lobby and unlock the previously inaccessible door to find a Large Tech Scrap Cache and a Vital Boost v.1 Implant.

Central Atrium and Elevator Access

After acquiring the keycard, return to the West Research Wing and proceed further. You'll eventually reach a large, open Central Atrium.

• Elevator Activation: Your primary goal here is to activate the central elevator. This requires power, which is currently offline.
• Enemy Patrols: The Atrium is heavily patrolled by various CREO personnel, including CREO Security Guards and CREO Engineers (who often drop CREO Tools). Utilize the environment for cover and pick off enemies strategically.
• Power Core Location: The power core for the elevator is located in a sub-level accessible via a staircase on the far side of the Atrium. Before descending, look for a hidden vent shaft near the ceiling on the upper level, which can be accessed with a well-timed jump. This leads to a secret room containing a CREO Exoskeleton Part (Legs) and a Weapon Upgrade Module v.2.

Sub-Level Power Core

Descend into the sub-level to restore power.

• Environmental Hazards: Be wary of electrified water puddles and steam vents. Time your movements carefully to avoid damage.
• Power Core Puzzle: The power core itself is protected by a simple circuit puzzle. You need to reroute the power flow by interacting with three glowing consoles in the correct sequence. The correct sequence is usually indicated by a faint blue light connecting the consoles.
• Mini-Boss: Automated Maintenance Unit: Once power is restored, an Automated Maintenance Unit will activate. This mini-boss is heavily armored but has weak points on its hydraulic joints. Focus fire on these joints to stagger it and deal significant damage. Defeating it rewards you with Advanced Tech Scrap and a chance for Maintenance Unit Components.

With power restored, return to the Central Atrium and activate the elevator. This will take you to the upper levels of the CREO Institute, opening up new areas and challenges.
