Walkthrough: Rail-Yard Run (8 Flowers)

So, you've just booted up the game and picked your favorite Yoshi (green is clearly the best, right?). Now, you're standing at Sunshine Station, ready to roll. The first real level is called Rail-Yard Run, and it's a fantastic spot to get the hang of things. Don't worry, it's pretty straightforward!

As you start moving, you'll notice the game is in 3D, but you're mostly guided along set paths. Think of it like a train track – you can only go where the track goes. This might change later with multiple paths, but for now, just stick to the route. But hey, what about those collectibles just off the path? That's where your trusty eggs come in!

Right at the beginning, you'll see a Shy Guy. Instead of just jumping on him, try eating him by pressing 'B'. Then, push down, and Yoshi will pop out an egg. This is your main way to get eggs, and you'll want to stock up whenever you can. You can carry up to six eggs at a time, and any extras just disappear – a bit sad, but that's how it goes!

You'll come across a small gap. To jump over it, just tap 'A' for a regular hop, or hold 'A' to flutter jump. This is key for reaching platforms or crossing longer distances. Climb the ladder. At the top, you'll see two coins. Jump up to grab them, and just above them, you'll find your very first hidden question mark cloud. These pop up when you get close or interact with them. If an area looks a bit suspicious or you just feel like exploring, jump around or throw eggs – you might find something! Shooting this hidden cloud gives you a heart refill. You start each level with 10 hearts, and can hold up to 20. Collecting hearts is great for your health, and finishing a level with full health nets you an extra flower bonus!

Keep following the path downwards. Turn left to find another question mark cloud – shoot it for another heart refill. Now, head right. You'll see another info block that explains how to shoot into the background, which is the same as shooting normally. This is important for hitting things you can't directly reach!

Flower Locations in Rail-Yard Run:

• Flower 1: Just above the second Piranha Plant you encounter.
• Flower 2: After climbing the ladder from the first question mark cloud, jump above the two coins to find a hidden question mark cloud that gives you a heart. The flower is to the right of this hidden cloud.
• Flower 3: After the info block that teaches you about shooting into the background, there's a platform with a question mark cloud. Shoot it to reveal a ladder, climb it, and the flower is at the top.
• Flower 4: Continue along the main path. You'll see some platforms that move up and down. Jump onto the highest one and then jump to the right to find a hidden area with a flower.
• Flower 5: After the moving platforms, you'll come to a section with pipes. There's a flower near the top of the screen, just to the right of the pipes. You might need to use flutter jump to reach it.
• Flower 6: Look for a signpost with a red flag on it. Behind this signpost, there's a hidden passage. Go through it to find the flower.
• Flower 7: This one is in the background. You'll need to shoot eggs into the background to hit a question mark cloud. This will reveal a platform. Jump onto it and then jump to the right to find the flower.
• Flower 8: This is usually found near the end of the level, often in a bonus area or by hitting a special cloud. Keep an eye out for any suspicious question mark clouds or areas that seem slightly out of reach.
