Learn about Takatoshi Hijiyama's unique armaments and skills in 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, including Counter and Composite Ceramic Armor.
Unique Armaments
Counter (G1): A passive armament that causes the Sentinel to hit enemies around it when it gets hit. This is considered a waste of an armament slot as the plan is not to get hit, and the kaiju AI does not often target Sentinels. It hits only one target at a time. Skip this armament.
Composite Ceramic Armor (G1): Negates all damage done to Hijiyama of 500 or less. This is generally a poor selection because players are not usually losing their S-rank from multiple sub-500 damage hits. It does not protect against high-damage attacks like Hi-Quad plasma cannons or Drum Mine detonations. An exception is during swarm-based waves with small kaiju; in these situations, it makes Hijiyama practically immune to damage, though not required for S-ranking these waves. It is more useful for players aiming for a damageless run, allowing Hijiyama to handle small kaiju stragglers without risking the run.
Optimized Actuator: A passive armament, obtained from Leap Attack +4, which multiplies the setup movement of all armaments by 1.3. This functionally increases effectiveness by making back attacks easier and reducing Takatoshi's movement time. It is best for waves with high-value targets in separated groups but is useful generally. As a passive, it does not require expensive enhancements.
Anti-Air Demolisher Blade: Unlocked with Demolisher Blade +4, this armament functions as a Demolisher Blade that only hits air units. It uses a fan-shaped area and deals equal damage to the ground version, piercing armor. However, armored flying kaiju are rare before the postgame. Takatoshi already has EMP Surrounding, which is more general-use and cheaper to enhance. Equip this for Terra Carrier waves and skip enhancements.
Recommended Armaments:
- Rush Attack
- Demolisher Blade
- Limiter Removal
- Anti-Air Defensive Flares
- EMP Surrounding
- Leap Attack or Ceramic Composite Armor
Takatoshi’s Skills
Patriot: Raises attack proportional to city damage. This skill has limited utility as city damage is gained by leaving kaiju alive, which is counterproductive. The bonus can be small or non-existent depending on the map.
Okino’s Support: Widens the angle at which an attack counts as a back attack from the back 90 degrees to the back 180 degrees, granting extra damage. This is a nice but not amazing bonus.
Lone Wolf: Raises attack if there are fewer than 6 attack members. This is semi-useful for missions requiring only 4 members but not especially impactful.
Pride of Japan: Raises defense as HP drops. This is not recommended as the focus is on avoiding damage.
Tactics Drill: Raises attack when your combo count exceeds 100. This is a low bar to clear and is often achieved without trying. Despite multiple attack bonuses, they do not significantly increase Hijiyama's damage output.
That’s More Like It!: An all stats bonus based on the number of kaiju on the field. This generally provides a small bonus as the objective is to eliminate kaiju quickly.
Takatoshi’s Defensive Armament
EMP Attractor: This armament EMPs a small area of kaiju near the terminal. It is slightly more useful than other defensive armaments because it is not primarily damage-based, but the benefit is not significant.
