Alright, let's get you started with Ball X Pit! When you first jump in, you'll be thinking about your character and what balls you'll be using. While the game doesn't have a traditional character *creation* screen like some others, your choice of character and the balls you pick are super important for how you'll play. Think of your character as your starting point. Each one comes with a specific Base Ball, which is a type of Special Ball. These are the main weapons you'll use to take down enemies and clear those levels. There are two main types of balls you'll be working with: * Baby Balls: These are your standard, no-frills white balls. They don't have any special tricks up their sleeves, but they're reliable. Most characters start with a few, but The Empty Nester and The Makeshift Sisyphus are exceptions – they start with none! Your Leadership stat actually affects how many Baby Balls you have and how much damage they do. * Special Balls: These are where things get interesting! Each Special Ball has its own unique passive ability. You can level them up during a run to make them stronger, and even combine them. Some you'll have from the start, others unlock as you progress through stages. Special Balls break down even further: * Base Balls: These are the Special Balls that can show up when you level up during a run, provided you've unlocked them. There are 18 of them in total. Each character also has one assigned Base Ball they start with. Here's a quick look at some of them: * Bleed: Inflicts bleed, dealing 1 damage per stack (up to 8 stacks) when enemies are hit by a ball. * Brood Mother: Has a 25% chance to spawn a baby ball when hitting an enemy. * Burn: Adds burn stacks for 3 seconds (max 3 stacks), dealing 4-8 damage per stack per second. * Cell: Splits into a clone on hit, up to 2 times. * Charm: Has a 4% chance on hit to charm enemies for 5 seconds, making them attack other enemies. * Dark: Deals 3.0x damage but destroys itself after hitting an enemy. Has a 3-second cooldown. * Earthquake: Deals 5-13 damage to nearby enemies in a 3x3 tile area. * Egg Sac: Explodes into 2-4 baby balls on hit. Has a 3-second cooldown. * Freeze: Has a 4% chance to freeze enemies for 5 seconds. Frozen enemies take 25% more damage. * Ghost: Passes right through enemies. * Iron: Deals double damage but moves 40% slower. * Laser (Horizontal): Deals 9-18 damage to all enemies in the same row. * Laser (Vertical): Deals 9-18 damage to all enemies in the same column. * Light: Blinds enemies for 3 seconds, making them miss attacks 50% of the time. * Lightning: Deals 1-20 damage to up to 3 nearby enemies. * Poison: Applies poison stacks (max 5) that last 6 seconds, dealing 1-4 damage per second per stack. * Vampire: Has a 4.5% chance on hit to heal 1 health. * Wind: Passes through enemies, slows them by 30% for 5 seconds, but deals 25% less damage. * Fused Balls: These are created by combining two other level 3 Special Balls using the Fusion Reactor. You can mix Base Balls, Evolved Balls, or one of each. However, if two balls can combine into an Evolved Ball, you *must* evolve them instead of fusing. Fused Balls take on the combined names and effects of their components. For example, Bleed + Freeze becomes Bleed X Freeze, with both abilities. * Evolved Balls: These are created by combining 2 or more specific level 3 Base or Evolved Balls using the Fusion Reactor.
