The MP44 is an assault rifle featured in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. It fires a unique short rifle round, allowing it to function effectively as a submachine gun up close and as a rifle at longer ranges.

Historical Information: The Sturmgewehr 44 (StG 44), from which the MP44 designation originates, was the first true assault rifle. Its design influenced later firearms like the AK-47. The weapon was developed to combine the high rate of fire of submachine guns with the accuracy and projectile power of rifles, overcoming the limitations of both. Initially used by the 93rd ID on the Eastern Front, it received production priority in July 1944 after personal appeals to Hitler. By December 1944, it was officially named Sturmgewehr. A total of 425,977 MP 43 and MP 44 / Sturmgewehr units were produced at a cost of 66 RM each.

The MP44 could also be equipped with the ZF 1229 Vampir infrared night sighting device, which added 2.3kg to the weapon, with support devices weighing an additional 13kg carried in a rucksack. 310 of these scopes were produced by Leitz. Another notable invention was the Krummerlauf, a bent barrel with a periscope sight designed for shooting around corners. While several variants existed for different uses and weapons, the 30° 'I' version for the StGw 44 was the only one produced in significant numbers.
