Historical Information:
The Stielhandgranate 24 featured a time fuse activated by unscrewing the bottom and pulling a safety cord. It weighed 480g and had an overall length of 35.6cm. The warhead, measuring 7.5cm long and 6cm in diameter, contained 165g of explosives. The cylindrical warhead was also available separately as the Handgranate 43, which could be used as a mine when combined with a pressure-activated trigger.
A popular improvised anti-tank weapon was the "Geballte Ladung" ("forceful/big charge"), which combined one Stielhandgranate 24 with six Handgranate 43 warheads. This configuration resembled a flower and was used as a makeshift explosive bundle.
To enhance fragmentation, "shrapnel rings" (Splitterringe) could be attached to the warhead, a technique copied from Russian RGD 33 hand grenades. A total of 81 million Stielhandgranate 42 and Handgranate 43 units were produced.
