History: The Children of the Sun, also known as The Following, are a cult-like faction in the Countryside of Harran, led by the Mother. Their origins trace back to the 13th century, with a nomadic tribe led by a spiritual leader. They settled near Harran based on visions, eventually assimilating into local society while retaining traditions. Fifty years before the events of 'The Following,' they were banned as an illegal religious sect, forcing them underground. The Harran Virus outbreak led to their resurgence, with the most devout members, The Faceless, spreading their beliefs and using a military chemical (Blue Mist) for limited immunity to the virus. This chemical prompted Kyle Crane to investigate. The Baron later weaponized this gas into EF gas for Chimeras.

Beliefs: They believe in the Cult of the Sun, Sky, and Wind, led by the Mother, a matriarchal figure. The Mother guides the group through trance-like states and visions. They view nature's forces as divine, with the sun, sky, and wind forming a holy trinity. They pray to the sun as their god's house and the sky as heaven, with the wind as a heavenly messenger. Their funerary tradition involves dressing the dead in ceremonial robes and masks and leaving them to be taken by scavenging birds, seen as symbols of heaven's mercy and messengers of the wind, returning the dead to the sun. A prophecy speaks of a God of the Sun, a messianic figure who will appear during a great plague to cleanse the earth. The Mother is destined to bring this God to Earth, and the Children believe this prophecy is unfolding during the events of 'The Following.'
