The Children of the Sun, also known as The Following, is a cult-like faction based in the Countryside surrounding Harran, led by the Mother. They are a prominent group in Dying Light: The Following, with a history stretching back centuries.

History:
The group's origins trace back to the 13th century when nomadic tribes were led to the region by their spiritual leader, the Mother. They settled near Harran, assimilating into the local language but maintaining their traditions. Fifty years before the events of The Following, they were banned as an illegal religious sect. The Harran Virus outbreak led to their resurgence, with the devout members, The Faceless, guiding survivors and utilizing a military chemical known as Blue Mist for limited immunity to the virus.

Beliefs:
They follow the Cult of the Sun, Sky, and Wind, worshipping these elements as a holy trinity. The Mother, a matriarchal figure descended from a continuous family line, guides them through visions. Their funerary traditions involve leaving the dead to be taken by birds, seen as messengers of heaven. A prophecy foretells the coming of the God of the Sun during a great plague, who will cleanse the earth.
