The Children of the Sun, also known as The Following, is a cult-like faction residing in the Countryside surrounding Harran, led by the Mother. They are a significant group within the narrative of Dying Light: The Following.

History:
The group's origins trace back to the 13th century, founded by a nomadic hunter-gatherer tribe led by a spiritual leader, the Mother. They settled near Harran based on the Mother's visions. Despite initial assimilation into local society, they maintained their traditions. Fifty years before the game's events, they were banned as an illegal religious sect but resurged with the Harran Virus outbreak. Their use of a military chemical, the Blue Mist, provided limited immunity to the virus.

Beliefs:
They follow the Cult of the Sun, Sky, and Wind, with the Mother as their matriarchal spiritual leader. They view nature's forces as divine and have a unique funerary tradition where bodies are left to be consumed by birds, seen as messengers of heaven. A prophecy foretells a messianic figure, the God of the Sun, who will bring healing during a great plague.
