Defeat Skull King and Virgin Born in Code Vein's final chapter. Learn boss patterns, recommended builds, and ending requirements.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Approach the area beyond the mistle to begin the final battle.
  2. 2
If you are on the Bad ending route, you will face one boss. For any other ending, you will face two bosses consecutively. Dying during the second boss fight means you will not fight the first boss again upon a retry.
  3. 3
If aiming for all endings and currently on the good end route, ensure you have not restored all Eos vestiges before the fight. After defeating the boss and getting the ending, load your save file, restore the vestiges, and defeat the boss one more time to achieve the other version of the good end.

Boss: Skull King

This boss wields two dual great swords and uses Hounds Blood Veils, making it a dangerous opponent with five distinct phases, each altering its attack patterns.

  • Phase 1 (until 80%-75% health): Uses far-reaching sword swings (3-4 followed by a smash that leaves him open) if you are near. Close-range attacks include using his blood veil directly in front and dashing sweeps. Circular swings with both swords are also used. If you are far away, he uses a blood veil dash towards you (dodge forward) or jumps and smashes swords down (dodge towards him).
  • Phase 2 (until 60% health): Similar to Phase 1 but faster, deals more damage, and leaves fewer openings. Includes additional moves after the blood veil dash.
  • Phase 3 (until 50%-45% health): Attacks are more deadly. He performs a forward dashing sweep, followed by a high jump and a crashing energy blade attack directly in front (difficult to dodge at close range; dodge towards him or to the side as he descends). Fewer openings and increased speed.
  • Phase 4 (until 25%-10% health): Adds an energy shock wave to all attacks, increasing damage and reach. Damage, speed, and other attributes are further improved.
  • Phase 5 (final phase): Attacks deal the most damage and are faster. Energy shock waves explode upon landing. He has a rarely used super long energy sword attack.
Tips for Skull King
  • A strength build with many buffs is highly recommended to quickly force down its phases.
  • Consider a one-handed sword build with Queenslayer and various buffs (high Light Gift stat recommended).
  • Refer to the builds section for recommendations, such as the Nuke build.
  • A one-handed sword strength/speed build is also viable.
  • Using Queenslayer as a class is recommended. Weapon choice is flexible: a fortified and fully upgraded halberd, two-handed sword, or one-handed sword are good options.
  • Choose a blood veil that aids with Light Gifts to make buffs more potent.
  • An ally or online help is recommended if you struggle.
  • Learn its patterns through practice and attack during openings.

Boss: Virgin Born

The final boss for the normal and good endings, significantly easier than Skull King.

  • Early Phases: Attacks directly in front with its large body; the area below its body is an easy opening. If far away, it uses projectiles or closes in with front claw attacks. Getting under its large body is easy for sustained attacks. If the ground glows, dodge away from a powerful blast attack.
  • Phase 2 (from 50% health): Flies in the air and fires projectiles. If directly below, projectiles won't reach. Use this time to buff and heal. Dodge when it descends. Continue attacking its lower body from below.
  • Final Phase: Adds a black hole attack that pulls you in if you are far away. The boss is predictable and easy to beat once patterns are learned.
Tips for Virgin Born
  • The Nuke build is suggested for massive early damage, followed by using a halberd while dodging as needed.

After the Battle:

  • If on the Bad Ending Route: After scenes, the game concludes, and credits roll. You receive the Hades Blood Code and the Argent Wolf King Sword. Proceed to the New Game+ section.
  • If on the Neutral Ending: You get the ending and can load into NG+ by going through the door in the base.
  • If on the Normal or Good Endings: After defeating Virgin Born, you receive the ending.
