Mastering Bombsite A on Train in Counter-Strike: Source. Learn CT and T routes, common angles, and strategies for taking and defending the site.
Alright, let's talk about Bombsite A on the map Train in Counter-Strike: Source. This is usually the go-to site for Terrorists because it's way more open and easier to set up plays compared to Bombsite B. Think of it like this: taking A on Mirage is tough if you can't smoke it off, right? Well, B on Train is similar, but even harder because CTs spawn closer and it's tough to get those early smokes in before you push. So, A it is!
From the CT spawn, you'll want to run up the ramp right in front of you and then hang a left down that blue hallway. If you're playing with the B player, you can also follow them through the door on your left and come in via Connector.
Now, for the Ts, there are three main ways to get onto A site:
- Ivy: This is pretty much the 'Long A' of Train. It's a pretty wide-open corridor with not much cover, making it a prime spot for AWP duels. CTs usually watch this tight because it leads straight into their territory and also offers a way to hit the bombsite from behind if you manage to take it.
- A Main: This is the most common entrance. It's the shortest route to the site, but be careful – CTs can peek you from a lot of angles here, like the train cars, the tops of those cars, the Window to your right, and even Connector if the CT player is pushed up. Those train cars also create little alleys that AWPers love to hold, so smoking them off early is a big help.
- Popdog: This room is kind of like Skyfall on Cobblestone. I actually think it's a bit easier for Ts to take control of here because CTs don't have many ways to harass you before you drop down. You can easily drop flashes and molotovs into the room. As long as you don't show yourselves through the hatch, you can start the fight on your own terms. Plus, coming out of Popdog gives you quick cover behind the tan Electric Box. It's a great supplement to an attack coming from A Main or Ivy.
If your attack goes well, congrats! Smoking off Connector is a smart move to make sure your plant isn't interrupted. Expect the CTs to retake from either of the two blue corridors. If the B player is feeling sneaky, they could even try to sneak into Brown Halls and swing onto the site through Popdog. It takes longer, but it can catch an unsuspecting T side off guard during the afterplant.
