Story Characters

First off, the easiest way to get a bunch of new allies is just by playing through the main story. Seriously, you'll unlock six characters automatically as you progress, on top of our main man Zed. Here's when you can expect them:

When you finish the story, keep an eye out for a new bill in the Dark Assembly called Accept an Overlord’s Challenge!. It'll cost you 50,000 Mana, so you might wanna hit up the Cheat Shop to boost your Mana gains a bit. You'll probably want to grind a bit too, because the battles ahead can be pretty tough. There are eight stages in total, and the last one throws ten Level 9999 enemies at you, including three bosses! It's a serious challenge, but totally worth it to unlock these iconic characters.

DLC Characters

Now, for the DLC characters. In older versions of Disgaea 6, you'd have to buy these separately, but the good news is that Disgaea 6 Complete includes all of them right out of the box!
