Learn how to defeat Lunagriff in dragon quest i and ii hd 2d remake. Counter Kaswoosh with Magic Barrier and use Hero's Demon Demeaner for high damage.

Lunagriff has several attacks that can be dangerous, including Desperate Attack (a critical hit), Fizzle (prevents spellcasting), Burning Breath (inflicts Paralysis), Kaswoosh (wind damage to the party), Propellor Blade (hits twice), Miracle Moon (party damage and heals boss), and Weakening Wave (lowers party attack). Luck plays a significant role in this battle, but you can improve your odds by ending the fight quickly.

  • Hero with Multifists (36) or Cutting Edge (41) abilities, or Demon Demeaner via scroll.
  • Peronel with Oomph ability.
  • Matilda with Egg On ability (optional, can be used on self).
  • Full Moon Rings for Paralysis resistance.
  • Banishing Bells for general ailment resistance.
Walkthrough
  1. 1
Keep Magic Barrier active at all times to mitigate damage from Kaswoosh, a wind spell that can deal upwards of 80 damage to your entire party.
  2. 2
Be aware that Lunagriff can use Fizzle to block spellcasting and Burning Breath to inflict Paralysis. Equip Full Moon Rings to help resist Paralysis, though they don't offer complete immunity. Banishing Bells also provide some resistance to ailments. The Hero is unaffected by Fizzle as he cannot cast spells.
  3. 3
Lunagriff also uses Desperate Attacks (critical hits) and Propellor Blade (single target, hits twice). These can quickly deplete the HP of characters with lower maximum HP.
  4. 4
When Lunagriff's HP drops to yellow, he will begin using Miracle Moon, which deals significant damage to the party and heals the boss. Your damage output should ideally outpace this healing.
  5. 5
For damage, have Peronel cast Oomph on the Hero. If Matilda has Egg On, have her cast it on the Hero as well; otherwise, the Hero can use it on himself.
  6. 6
Use the Hero's Demon Demeaner ability (especially when buffed with Oomph and Egg On) to deal 700-800 damage per turn.
  7. 7
Support the Hero with spells like Multiheal, Kabuff, and Magic Barrier. If Peronel has Souped-Up Kaboom unlocked, she can cast Big Banga.
Tips
  • The strategy of buffing the Hero's damage multipliers while the rest of the party supports with healing and defensive spells is applicable to many future bosses.
  • If you don't have Multifists or Cutting Edge, Demon Demeaner is a crucial choice for damage.
  • Large amount of experience.
  • Matilda obtains the Moonshard.
