Death, Unbound

After defeating Death, search the chamber. Locate a square chest north of the tunnel you entered from, under the balcony. Continue south along the perimeter to find a rounded chest on the eastern end of the southern wall. Ignore the tunnel leading south from the western end of the southern wall for now. Follow the western wall north to find another square chest. Smash crates and pick plants, noting that Kingwarish, a potent healing item, can be harvested here.

Be aware that piles of gore left by Hobgoblins and other fleshy Bitterblack inhabitants can attract predators like Garm. You will always encounter a Garm in this chamber, and its location is static. After clearing Bitterblack Isle once, monster populations change. You can use Rancid Bait Meat to lure creatures without fighting other monsters, making knowledge of spawn locations useful for harvesting materials.

New creatures in Bitterblack Isle, especially large ones with multiple health bars, drop valuable components. Some Bitterblack arms and armor can cost up to 1,000,000 gold to upgrade to three stars, so components can sell for thousands or tens of thousands of gold. These components are also required for upgrades. Use the Suasion Augment and a Ring of Thrift to maximize profit if you have an abundance of materials and need coin.

Garms are massive mastiffs that are brutal in melee combat, with a lunge-and-fling move that can nearly one-hit-kill a level 200 Assassin on normal difficulty. They also have poisonous breath that inflicts blindness and poison, and they shake fiercely if mounted. Their size impedes them; they may not be able to follow you onto ledges or small objects, and they tend to fall off. They are also vulnerable to lightning.

Head to the southern tunnel previously ignored and descend into the watery passage. As it turns east, search the southern wall for an ore vein to mine for Bitterblack goodies. Continue east, then turn south to a chamber with Hobgoblins. Search the north-eastern corner for a square chest. Proceed through a narrow tunnel east (ignoring a larger tunnel south) to a small, Hobgoblin-occupied chamber. Kill the Goblinoids, jump onto a ledge east, and explore a small passage for an ornate chest.

Return to the western rooms and head south. Turn west and search the north-western corner of the smaller, southern room for a square chest. Head south into a tunnel, turn west, and enter a Spider-infested room. Kill the spiders and note the wooden platforms. A rounded chest is hidden behind crates in the south-eastern corner. Climb a ladder on the northern lip of the southern wooden platform to reach the top; search the south-western corner for a rounded chest. Atop cut stones on the southern end of this platform, find a Macabre Sculpture (#3). The northern platform has two levels. Reach the lower platform by using cut stones to the west. Reach the upper platform by climbing a ladder. The lower platform holds a rounded chest, and the upper platform has a door north leading back to near where you entered this level.

Return to the room where Death was encountered and head north to unexplored areas. Go down stairs, turn west, and enter a doorway north on a landing between two flights of stairs. Climb cut stones to a small L-shaped chamber. Search the south-western corner for an ornate chest. You will find coin pouches along the way.
