Learn how to defeat the Dragon in Dragon's Dogma 2, reclaim your heart, and understand the consequences of your victory. Get rewards and post-game quest info.
Mages and Sorcerers should use cover well and charge up spells when possible. The Dragon's long-distance routine usually ends with it hovering. If you can knock it out of the air, you'll have time to deal serious damage with magic. A high-damage spell like Frigor, charged up behind cover and aimed at the Dragon's heart, can deal significant damage in one casting. However, the safest place to fight the Dragon is usually up close. A Strider, Ranger, or Assassin can take it down with disturbing ease by attacking its heart, though it might grab and slam you. For less mobile melee fighters, hitting the Dragon while it's casting spells can knock it down, providing a clear shot at the heart. The key is to use aimed attacks and target the heart.
Once the Dragon falls, an ending cutscene plays, showing you get your heart back, as do all other Arisens. The link to their immortality is now dead, leading to unfortunate consequences for your fellows. The Dragon's demise also causes ruin to Gran Soren. You have defeated the Dragon, reclaimed your mortality, saved your romantic interest, and saved the day.

You'll wake up back in your house in Cassardis with your romantic interest, who will now permanently reside there. Talk to your lover; they'll have something to say about your rescue, especially if they are a 'main' NPC. You now have the Godsbane blade (earning the Achievement/Trophy 'Destiny'), a Crimson Dragon Scale (a material obtained only from killing the Dragon), and new weapons based on what you used to kill the Dragon. These new weapons are roughly twice as strong as your previous gear. All your old gear has been Dragon-Forged, making it massively more powerful. Note that most weapons obtained from fighting the Dragon are slightly weaker than the best weapons in the Everfall, even when Dragon-Forged.
Despite defeating the Dragon and reclaiming your heart, the world appears ruined, and the sky is dark. The Dragon seemed eager to be killed, and the duke and capital are in bad shape. It's suggested to head back to Gran Soren to investigate.
Head into Pablos' Inn. The Notice Board has new quests, including 'A Challenge' which requires tracking down a rare monster in the Frontier Caverns. Madeline is also present (if not your romantic interest) with a fully stocked inventory of new, powerful, and expensive loot. It's recommended to acquire similar or better loot for free through adventuring. Always check merchants and Notice Boards for interesting items. While in Cassardis, stash excess loot and talk to villagers. Some exalt your victory, while others mention the fall of Gran Soren alongside the Dragon's demise.
After leaving Cassardis, you may wonder why areas like Seabreeze Trail and Manamia Trail weren't covered thoroughly. There are several reasons, including limited loot in those areas.
