How to Defeat the Hollow Plant Boss

Hey there! So you've run into the Hollow Plant boss in Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising and it's giving you a bit of trouble? Don't sweat it, this is the first real roadblock for a lot of players, but once you know the trick, it's totally manageable. You'll first encounter this leafy menace at the end of the Great Forest, right around when you're doing Main Quest 3: Old Shiva’s Clock Tower. Just a heads-up, even after you beat it the first time, you'll fight it again if you revisit that screen.

Stats / Weaknesses:

• Weak Point: A worm-like creature that emerges from the boss's mouth after a root attack sequence.

Phases:

1. Root Barrage: The boss sprouts branches from the ground. Watch for the red lights that signal where they'll appear.
2. Worm Emergence: After the root attacks, a worm pops out. This is your damage window.
3. Energy Ball: The worm charges and fires an energy ball. Dodge this and then you can attack the worm again briefly.

Strategy:

• When you first enter the arena, your best bet is to hang back and just focus on dodging. The Hollow Plant's main attack involves sprouting thorny branches from the ground. You'll see a red light appear on the ground just before they pop up, giving you a heads-up on where to move.
• There are a couple of variations to this root attack. Sometimes it's four branches bunched together, which you can usually just back away from. Other times, they're more spread out, and you'll need to find the safe spots *between* the designated areas.
• After doing its root attack usually twice, the boss will reveal its weak point: a worm-like creature that pops out of its mouth. This is your cue to get aggressive! Rush in and land a couple of hits.
• Be ready to dodge immediately after attacking. The worm will charge up and fire an energy ball straight across the screen. Don't worry about the visual effects behind the ball; only the projectile itself can hurt you.
• You'll get another small window to attack the worm after it fires the energy ball before it retreats and the boss starts its root attacks again. Keep this cycle of dodging, attacking the worm, and dodging the energy ball going, and you'll take it down in no time. It sounds more complicated than it is – once you see the pattern, it's pretty straightforward!
