Navigate Fenrir's lair in Etrian Odyssey HD, defeat the Skoll FOEs and the powerful Fenrir boss, and discover the Geomagnetic Field for the first time.
Walkthrough
- 1Head South and central, following the convoluted path to a clearing with a "Chop" Item Point.
- 2Go South and East, then follow the long path East until you reach a wall. Follow the path North and West.
- 3When the path turns South, take the first door West to find a "Chop" Item Point.
- 4Return to the main path and go South. Take the next door West to find a "Mine" Item Point.
- 5Go back through the door and continue South through another door to reach a clearing.
- 6Go to the SE of this clearing to find a chest containing a Blaze Oil.
- 7Head to the SW to find a door.
- 8Head all the way North. Check the wall to the West to find a Warp to an earlier area.
- 9From the last door, head West and take the door to the North. You will enter Fenrir's lair.
- 10Defeat the two Skoll FOEs to the West and East. Skolls are stronger Wolves with more HP and higher damage.
- 11Go North from the entrance and defeat the third Skoll. Avoid the Black FOE, Fenrir.
- 12After eliminating the 3 Skolls, prepare for Fenrir. Pull Fenrir South and into a cranny by walking within a square of him so he chases you.
- 13Defeat Fenrir. He has 1400 HP. Use Boosts for heavy damage at the start. Use high-damaging attacks, have your Protector use Provoke/Parry or F. Guard/B. Guard, and use Salve. Aim to be around level 16-17.
- 14After the fight, all remaining Skolls disappear. Do NOT Warp Wire back to town.
- 15Go down to the 6th floor and head towards the shining Star on your map.
- 16The Ronin and Hexer will explain the Geomagnetic Field. Use it to save and/or port back to town.
- 17Report your success at Radha Hall for a 2000en reward. Four new quests will open up.
- 18You are now ready to tackle the 6th floor.
Tips
- Frequent 3 Roller 1 Clawfly encounters in the clearing before the Blaze Oil chest can be draining. Try to hold off returning to town if possible.
- Ensure your Boost points are full before fighting Fenrir.
- If you are having trouble with Fenrir, consider grinding for experience on B5F.
- Sell all your drops to purchase the best gear before the boss fight.
- After finishing the 1st Stratum, you can return to B1F for extra treasure (see Side Quests section [SQ01]).
- For the 2nd Stratum, B6F:
- Sleepgels can inflict sleep.
- Venomgels can inflict poison on a single target or the entire party.
- Waspiors and Spiders can inflict poison on a single target.
- Sloths hit hard, especially with Shred.
- Moa (FOE) has 900 HP and uses Rush, hitting the entire party for around 60 damage. Recommended level 20+. Salve is almost a must.
- Cutter (FOE) has less HP than Moa but hits harder. Uses Roar to terrify. Poison is effective.
- When planting the seed on B6F, be prepared for 4 consecutive encounters: 2 Waspiors, then 2 more Waspiors, then a Sleepgel with 2 Waspiors, and finally a Sloth with 2 Waspiors.
- Starseeds needed for a quest can be found at a "Chop" Item Point on B6F.
- A chest containing a Down Staff is located on B6F, guarded by a Moa FOE.
- A "Take" Item Point is located on B6F.
