Complete The Point of the Spear in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. Learn about skills, Grazer Training Dummies, and the Odd Grata errand.
After a cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically) following your first Flashpoint, you will control Adult Aloy outside Rost's hovel. You will receive a rank-up notification and three skill points. Leveling up grants skill points to upgrade Aloy's abilities, categorized into Prowler (stealth), Brave (combat), Forager (resource acquisition), and Traveller (general). It is highly suggested to spend your first three skill points on Silent Strike, Concentration, and Lure Call.
In the area outside Rost's hovel, you can find seven Grazer Training Dummies: one to the left by the hut, one on the ledge below and to the left of the first, three to the right between the two exit gates, and two to the left of the campfire. These can be destroyed with a single heavy melee attack. There are 23 training dummies worldwide that can be knocked over to earn the Trophy: Downed 23 Grazer Dummies. Visit the Campfire (save points that can also be used for fast travel with Fast Travel Packs) here to save your game.
Make your way down the mountain toward the waypoint (a marker on your map you've manually placed as a destination) to find Rost. Approach him for a dialogue sequence. You can learn more from NPCs (non-player characters) by exploring additional dialogue options. Flashpoint options yield alternate dialogue, while others grant quests. After speaking with Rost, ask "Anything else?" to receive the Errand: Odd Grata. Use the zipline to head down into the valley. You may receive a weapon or armor modification (mod (a community-made modification that changes the game)) during subsequent quests; equip it to earn Trophy: First Modification. You can also hunt wild animals for resources.
Errand: Odd Grata
Navigate to the Quests tab in your menu and set Odd Grata as your active quest. Head down the mountain steps, save at the campfire, and follow the objective marker to Odd Grata. You will be tasked with obtaining five pieces of meat and her prayer beads. If you haven't found animals, meat can be found anywhere. Once you have the meat, head to the east Overlook for the prayer beads.
Cross the bridge near Grata's path and defeat the two Watchers. Across the bridge, find a herd of three Striders and loot them for three Blaze needed for The Point of the Spear quest. You can use precision bow shots or stealth with Lure Call and Silent Strike. Shooting the canister on their backs will break it off for looting. Craft a stack of 10 Fire Arrows to complete the first step of The Point of the Spear. Crafting more Fire Arrows is recommended.
To the left of the grass after crossing the bridge, you will find an injured man named Thok. Agree to search for his daughter Arana to receive Side Quest: In Her Mother's Footsteps. Continue to the Overlook, climb using pegs and ledges, and zipline to the campsite at the top. Retrieve Grata's prayer beads from a box on a bench, then rappel down. Return the prayer beads and meat to Grata to complete the errand.
Side Quest: The Forgotten
Head south along the path from Grata's campsite. You will hear Olara yelling for her brother Bram. Climb the large rock formation to find Olara. Talk to her to receive Side Quest: The Forgotten. Set it as your active quest and zipline down. Bram's camp is upstream and patrolled by two Watchers. Defeat them and scan the campfire with your Focus (a device that highlights interactable objects and tracks). Examine blood drops leading away from the camp, then follow the blood tracks to a knife. Examine the knife and follow the next blood track to a bloody bucket.
