Master the Fire Canyon race in Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy! Learn how to manage heat, use eco boosts, and collect Power Cells and Scout Flies.

Alright, so you've collected at least 20 Power Cells – nice! That means it's time to head to the Fire Canyon. You'll find the entrance right behind that Sleepy Yakow Guy's hut. This place is totally different from anywhere else you've been; it's basically a high-speed race across the canyon on Jak's A-Grav Zoomer. Your main goal is just to make it to the other side before your ride overheats or you crash too much. If that heat gauge on the bottom left fills up, or you hit too many obstacles, it's game over, man!

Don't worry, though, Keira's got your back. You'll see big blue cooling balloons floating around – drive through them to lower your heat. There are also ramps scattered about that give you a temporary heat break. Keep an eye out for Blue Eco vents too; they give you a sweet speed boost. And here's a cool trick: running into Lurkers will actually launch you into the air, keeping you away from the hot ground for a bit. Just remember to avoid the open magma pits and bottomless pits – those are instant game over. Also, try to swerve around the rock obstacles and Dark Eco crates; smashing into too many will overheat you faster. Oh, and don't forget you can jump with [R1]!

There's a Power Cell waiting for you at the end, so let's get racing!

Walkthrough
  1. 1

Where: Fire Canyon entrance, behind Sleepy Yakow Guy's hut.

What: You need 20 Power Cells to enter. The level is a race across the canyon on the A-Grav Zoomer.

What to do: Drive across the canyon, reaching the opposite side.

Why: Your Zoomer overheats if the heat gauge fills or if you crash too much. You must reach the end quickly.

  2. 2

Where: Throughout the Fire Canyon race.

What: Cooling balloons (blue), ramps (brown), Blue Eco vents, Lurkers, magma pits, bottomless pits, rock obstacles, Dark Eco crates.

What to do: Drive through cooling balloons and over ramps for heat relief. Use Blue Eco for speed boosts. Run into Lurkers to get airborne. Avoid magma and bottomless pits. Swerve around rock obstacles and Dark Eco crates.

Why: Magma and bottomless pits cause instant game over. Smashing obstacles overheats you faster. Lurkers provide temporary heat relief. Balloons, ramps, and Blue Eco help manage heat and speed.

  3. 3

Where: At the very end of the Fire Canyon.

    What: A Power Cell.

What to do: Reach the end of the canyon to claim it.

Why: It's your reward for completing the race.

Tips
  • If you're aiming for 100%, you might want to skip the Scout Flies on your first run and come back later. You can return to the canyon from the Rock Village side anytime.
  • Collecting all the Precursor Orbs is pretty straightforward since the level is linear. Just replay the section and keep an eye out for the gray metal chests.

Free 7 Scout Flies:

  1. Where: Early in the canyon, after the first two stacks of Dark Eco crates.

    What: The first Scout Fly.

What to do: Check the path directly in front of you.

  2. Where: Near a pool of lava, on the edge of some rocks.

What: The second Scout Fly, often found in a red box.

What to do: If you're in the center of the course, jump the lava; you should land on it.

  3. Where: After crossing a bridge, in an area where the path curves right (magma on the left).

    What: The third Scout Fly.

What to do: It's on the left edge of the path.

  4. Where: On a very thin ledge surrounded by hot pools.

What: The fourth Scout Fly, among several boxes.

What to do: Navigate the narrow strip of rock.

  5. Where: Just past the previous Scout Fly, in the same general area.

What: The fifth Scout Fly, also in a box.

What to do: Continue along the path.

  6. Where: Past a Blue Eco vent, wedged between a stone slab and Dark Eco on the right side.

    What: The sixth Scout Fly.

What to do: Look for it in the described location.

  7. Where: On the very last strip of rock leading to the canyon's end.

    What: The seventh Scout Fly.

What to do: It's hard to miss.

Missing Precursor Orbs?

Since the Fire Canyon is a linear race, finding all the Precursor Orbs just involves replaying the level and keeping an eye out for the gray metal chests. There's not much trick to it, just persistence!
