Following her unsettling discoveries at the ritual site, Sakuya's investigation inevitably leads her into the chilling depths of the manor's underground passages. This section of the guide focuses exclusively on navigating these subterranean horrors as Sakuya, detailing the specific challenges, enemies, and objectives unique to her journey through these ancient tunnels. Prepare for a significant escalation in both environmental hazards and enemy aggression.

Navigating the Darkness: Illumination and Exploration

The underground passages are shrouded in oppressive darkness, making visibility a constant struggle. Your immediate priority will be to find sources of light to safely proceed and uncover hidden pathways or items.

The Lantern: Early in this section, Sakuya will acquire the Lantern. This invaluable tool provides a cone of light directly in front of her, indispensable for spotting enemies, traps, and crucial pathways. Remember to equip it via your inventory.
Ancient Braziers: Throughout the passages, you'll encounter unlit braziers. Interact with these to ignite them, creating permanent light sources in specific areas. These often mark safe zones or indicate the correct path forward. Conserve your Oil (found in small vials) as it's needed to fuel the Lantern.
Environmental Hazards: Be wary of crumbling walkways, sudden drops, and pools of stagnant water that can slow Sakuya or harbor hidden threats. The darkness can easily conceal these dangers.

New Threats: Denizens of the Deep

The underground passages introduce several new and significantly more aggressive enemy types. Understanding their behaviors and vulnerabilities is key to survival.

Vulnerability: Fire Talismans are highly effective, causing them to burn rapidly. Strategy: Keep your distance. Use ranged attacks (talismans) or quick melee combos. If engaging in melee, dodge their slow attacks and strike from behind. Be prepared to back away after defeating one to avoid the spore cloud.
Shadow Lurkers	These ethereal, shadowy figures move with unsettling speed and often appear without warning, phasing through walls or emerging from dark corners. Their attacks are quick, clawing strikes that can inflict moderate damage and sometimes cause a temporary "fear" status effect, briefly impairing Sakuya's movement.	Vulnerability: Holy Talismans (purification) are devastating against them, often dispelling them in one or two hits. Strategy: Listen for their distinct, whispering growl, which often precedes their appearance. Use the Lantern to briefly stun them or reveal their true form, making them susceptible to physical attacks. Prioritize them as they can quickly overwhelm Sakuya.
Cave Spiders	Large, venomous arachnids that drop from the ceiling or scuttle out of crevices. They are fast and can spit corrosive venom that inflicts continuous poison damage.	Vulnerability: Any offensive talisman. Melee attacks are effective but risky due to their speed. Strategy: Keep an eye on the ceiling. Use your Lantern to spot them before they drop. Dodge their venomous spit and counter with quick melee strikes or a well-placed talisman. Carry Antidotes!

Primary Objective: The Seal of the Serpent

Sakuya's main goal in the underground passages is to locate and retrieve the Seal of the Serpent. This ancient, intricately carved stone tablet is vital for containing the malevolent spiritual energy emanating from the manor's core. Its presence is consistent across all playthroughs, making it a fixed objective.

Location & Acquisition:

Initial Descent: From the manor's ground floor, locate the hidden staircase (often behind a bookshelf or a loose wall panel in the library or a study area) that leads down.
The Flooded Caverns: Navigate through a series of waterlogged tunnels. Be mindful of the slower movement speed and potential ambush points from Shadow Lurkers emerging from the water. You'll need to activate a pressure plate or turn a valve to drain a section, revealing a path forward.
The Serpent's Lair Entrance: This area is typically guarded by a larger concentration of Grotesque Fungi and Cave Spiders. Clear the path carefully, conserving resources. You may need to solve a simple lever puzzle to open the heavy stone door leading to the lair itself.
The Serpent's Lair: This chamber is where the Seal of the Serpent resides. It is often protected by a powerful guardian or a complex environmental trap.
- Guardian: Expect to face a unique, larger variant of a Grotesque Fungus, sometimes referred to as the "Fungal Abomination." This mini-boss has higher health, wider attack arcs, and a more potent spore cloud. Focus on dodging its slow, powerful slams and counter with your strongest offensive talismans (Fire Talismans are still effective). Use the environment to your advantage, kiting it around pillars if possible.
- Retrieval: Once the guardian is defeated, approach the central pedestal or altar where the Seal of the Serpent is prominently displayed. Interact with it to add it to your inventory.

Resource Management & Pitfalls

Healing Items: Herbal Remedies and Purification Charms are scarcer here. Use them judiciously. Consider crafting if you have the necessary ingredients.
Talismans: Offensive talismans (Fire, Holy, Ice) are incredibly useful against the new enemy types. Stock up before descending.
Oil: Keep an eye on your Lantern's oil level. Running out in a dark passage can be fatal. Small vials of oil are usually found near braziers or in hidden alcoves.
Missable Items: Several hidden scrolls detailing the manor's history and the nature of the curse can be found in obscure corners of the passages. These add valuable lore but are easily missed in the dark. Use your Lantern to sweep every wall.
Backtracking: Be prepared for some backtracking. The passages are often interconnected, and you may need to revisit areas after acquiring new tools or keys.

Beyond the Seal: Deeper into the Manor

With the Seal of the Serpent in hand, Sakuya's path will lead her further into the manor's ancient foundations. The passages will eventually open into a much older, more decayed section, hinting at the true, horrifying origins of the curse plaguing the Kujo estate.
