Learn how to use the Mushroom boost in Mario Kart Wii, received in 2nd-8th place, to gain speed and take shortcuts.

How to use: Press L to boost your kart's speed for a second or two. This is handy for gaining places, skipping sections of the track like corners, or taking advantage of shortcuts. Be aware that you cannot stop immediately after using the boost, so watch where you are going.

Defending Against: There is not much you can do to defend against a Mushroom. Avoid colliding with opponents who are using them if you see them coming.
