Bullet Time & Shootdodge Mechanics:

Bullet Time and Shootdodge are unique features in Max Payne 2 that enhance stylish and fun gameplay. Bullet Time has been modified to complement standing and gunning, making it more effective for engaging multiple enemies simultaneously. Using Shootdodge extensively is not recommended as it takes a long time to recover, which can be calamitous. The screen turns yellow when Bullet Time is active. The longer you use it, the more powerful you become as enemies slow down progressively. A new effect in Bullet Time is the reloading style: if your gun runs out of ammo, Max will bend down and perform a 360-degree spin, reloading his weapon by the time he faces the enemy again. Bullet Time fills up by itself when not in use, or can be regained by killing more enemies.

Activating Bullet Time:

  • While moving and pressing the bullet time/shootdodge combo, you will perform a shootdodge in slow motion. Bullet Time ends when you stand up.
  • While standing still and pressing the bullet time/shootdodge combo, you and the world will enter Bullet Time. You can stop it by pressing the same button again or performing a shootdodge.
  • Alternatively, press the Bullet Time only button to activate it and press the same button to stop it.

Shootdodges:

Shootdodges can be used with Bullet Time or separately. You will dive or roll forward, backward, or sideways depending on the weapon you are carrying.

Tips
  • Experiment with different crosshair styles to find what works best for you.
  • Consider enabling Bullet Time Aid if you are new to the mechanic.
  • Learn the keybindings thoroughly for quick and effective combat.
  • Utilize the reload animation in Bullet Time for a stylish advantage.
  • Remember that Shootdodging leaves you vulnerable upon recovery; use it strategically.
