Complete walkthrough for Pokémon Crystal's Glacier Badge section, guiding you from Olivine City to Mahogany Town, including Route 42 and Mt. Mortar treasures and paths.
Walkthrough
- 1From Olivine City, Fly to Ecruteak City. Heal your Pokémon.
- 2Head east onto Route 42. Go northeast to find a cave entrance leading to Mt. Mortar. Pick up the Ultra Ball nearby.
- 3Continue east on Route 42. Surf on the water and examine the southwest tile of a rock in the middle to find a Max Potion.
- 4Land east of the Max Potion. South of a Cut tree, you'll find Pnk, Grn, and Ylw Apricorn trees.
- 5Northeast of the Cut tree is another Mt. Mortar entrance. Further east is a Super Potion.
- 6Surf east again and land. Head east towards Mahogany Town, encountering three Trainers and another Mt. Mortar entrance.
- 7Mt. Mortar - West/East Entrances: Start with the west entrance. Use Flash. Go north, up the stairs, and through the archway.
- 8In the next room, go north and west to find a ladder. Use it to reach a new area. Southeast here, find an Ether.
- 9Return down. Go northeast from the entrance. Push the Strength boulder east twice. Go north, northwest, and follow the path.
- 10At a fork, go northwest, then west. Hop down ledges to find a Hyper Potion. Go south and over the ledge.
- 11Return to the fork and go north to the end. Go south, collecting the Escape Rope. Continue south down ledges to the southeastern part of the area.
- 12Southeast of the Strength boulder, find another entranceway. Use the ladder on the nearby ledge and go up. Southeast, find a Guard Spec..
- 13Return down and use the entranceway mentioned in step 11.
- 14Mt. Mortar - East Entrance Side: Go west and examine the rock to find a Hyper Potion. Go southeast and outside.
- 15Mt. Mortar - Central Entrance: You can Surf here but need Waterfall TM for full access. Use the ladder near the entrance.
- 16In the area beyond, go east and downstairs. Surf north and land to find a Hyper Potion.
- 17Resume Surfing north and east, then north and west along the wall. Land in the northwestern bit (pointless for now).
- 18Continue south in the water until you can land on the southwestern portion. Go west and north, Surf across the pond to find a Full Heal.
- 19Backtrack outside or use Escape Rope/Dig.

- Wild Pokémon in Route 42 and Mt. Mortar are generally low-level and not worth catching unless for Pokédex completion.
- Recommended trainer levels for this area are 35+.
- Mt. Mortar requires Flash for navigation.
