Walkthrough
- 1Violet City: Heal at the Pokémon Center. Trade a Bellsprout for an Onix in the house southwest of the Pokémon Center. Head north to Sprout Tower.
- 2Sprout Tower: Enter and go northwest to find a ladder. Go east, battle the trainer, and descend the ladder. Go south to find a Parlyz Heal. Go north and west to find another trainer, then ascend the ladder to the south. Go north from this ladder to find an X Defend. Go south, battle the trainer, then go east and ascend another ladder.
- 3Sprout Tower Top Floor: Go west to find a Potion. To the north, battle three trainers in sequence. After the trainers, you will encounter your rival. Continue north to battle the Elder. Upon defeating the Elder, you will receive HM05 (Flash). To the northeast, collect an Escape Rope.
- 4Violet City Gym: Return to Violet City, heal your party at the Pokémon Center, and enter the Gym. Battle the trainers inside before facing Gym Leader Falkner.
Tips
- Onix can be traded for a Bellsprout in Violet City. It's a good trade if you can evolve it into Steelix via trading.
- Flash (HM05) is useful for lighting up dark caves like Dark Cave but has limited use in battle. Consider teaching it to a Pokémon like Bellsprout.
- TM31 (Mud-Slap) teaches a move that lowers the opponent's Accuracy. It can be useful against Rock- and Steel-type Pokémon.
- Falkner's Pidgey and Pidgeotto are weak to Electric and Rock-type moves. Geodude with Rock Throw or Onix with Rock Throw can be very effective.
- If Pidgey uses Sand Attack frequently, switching Pokémon can help avoid missing attacks.
