Time Attack Mode Differences:
- No extra lives; dying sends you to a retry screen.
- All ? Ring Item Boxes are replaced by 10 Ring Item Boxes.
- 1-up Item Boxes are not present.
- No Chao, Omochao, or Special Keys.
Two Player Modes:
- Main Game 2 Player: Requires two Game Boy Advances, two Gamepaks, and a link cable. One player controls the main character, the other the partner. Game data is from Player 1's Gamepak. Both characters can use Tag Action and lose Rings if damaged.
- Battle Mode Multi-pak: Requires 2-4 Game Boy Advances, a link cable, and Game Paks. Teams race through Acts; CPU controls characters if fewer than 4 players.
- Battle Mode Single-pak: Requires 2-4 Game Boy Advances and a link cable, with only one Game Pak. Characters act alone without partners or special moves. Find hidden Chao and steal them from other characters.

- For Zone 3 Boss, Amy teams are great, but avoid flying or gliding attacks.
