- 1During your assault, Faramir will lead a counterattack with a large battalion of powerful level 6 knights. Ensure you have replacement units ready on the other side of the bridge to withstand this assault, as you will likely lose half your army.
- 2A Nazgûl will arrive to assist. Use its scream attack skill as it swoops down on the concentrated knights. Keep your orcs engaged with the knights while the Nazgûl attacks from above. If the knights bunch up by the bridge, the Nazgûl can be very effective.
- 3After surviving the knight counterattack, the enemy will have only one minimally defended base camp without gates. Rush this base with your orc horde.
- 4Use the archer-garrison tactic to control the bridges. Bring trolls to deal with trebuchets. The rest of the assault should be straightforward.
- 5For Shelob's Lair, the map layout is similar to the good side mission. Allocate resources for at least 2 fully upgraded uruk hordes, with additional funds for more orcs if affordable.
- 6To control Shelob, sacrifice a horde of orcs to her by moving a battalion to her lair for her to consume.
- 7Use Gollum to explore the cavern, with Shelob and your orc hordes following closely. Free the berserkers you encounter as they can aid in combat.
- 8Be aware that Gondor army units (NPCs) in the cave (do respawn (be brought back to life at a checkpoint after death)) after a while, so find the hobbits quickly. Collect any found loots to fund your uruks, and then have them join your orcs. Continuously produce backup orc hordes for the final showdown with the hobbits and the Gondor search party.
- 9Shelob is powerful but vulnerable to fire arrows and being surrounded by Gondor soldiers. She is useful for supporting your orcs and absorbing melee damage.
- 10Explore the cave for loots and captured berserkers. Use Gollum to help locate the hobbits. Bring your entire army to defeat the hobbits and claim the One Ring.
Alternative Approach (Resource Management):
Orcs cost 100 each, making resource management crucial. This strategy focuses on building only an Orc pit and a Troll Cage, as trolls cost 500. Send orcs/uruks to take control of Shelob. Assign Gollum to hotkey #1 and send him into the cave to collect treasure and free berserkers.
Build 2-3 trolls and then churn out Orc Hordes. Stage your troops outside the cave entrance to have trolls engage Gondor Soldiers as they emerge. Use the Orcs' bloodthirsty ability to upgrade 2 hordes to Rank 2, then merge them with Orc Archers and assign them to Hotkey #4. Trolls/Shelob go to Hotkey #2, and Berserkers to Hotkey #3.
