Part 16

Discover all the specific conditions and choices needed to kill every playable character in The Quarry, including Dylan, Ryan, Emma, Nick, Kaitlyn, Max, Chris, and Travis.

This guide details how to kill each character in The Quarry. Many deaths are conditional and require specific choices or failures in Quick Time Events (QTEs) throughout the game.

Killing Dylan

Dylan can die in Chapter 10 if he is with Kaitlyn. To kill Dylan without killing Kaitlyn, choose 'Wait' at the start of the battle and fail to shoot the werewolf when it charges. Dylan will generally die if Kaitlyn fails a QTE or takes an action that would get her killed if not infected, specifically if she ignores the lodge office door and goes to the kitchen. An exception is the QTE to close the freezer door, which won't kill Dylan. Dylan will also die if Kaitlyn goes into the freezer. Notably, Dylan does not die if the 'Don't Breathe' event in the lodge bedrooms is failed.

Killing Ryan

Ryan cannot be killed before Chapter 9. He can die in Scene 9-Ryan-3 if he doesn't shoot Werewolf Chris (this also kills Laura and potentially Travis). If Laura shot Travis in 7-Laura-8, there are additional ways for Ryan to die in 9-Ryan-3. If Ryan does not accept Laura's bite in 9-Ryan-2, he will die by the end of Chapter 9. If not killed in Chapter 9, Ryan can only die if Laura and Travis are alive. He can die in 10-Laura-1 by failing QTEs to crash the car, or in 10-Laura-2 by Silas, provided he doesn't mark himself with werewolf blood in the previous scene.

Killing Emma

Emma is most easily killed during her werewolf chase Scenes in Chapter 4. If infected in Chapter 4, she can be killed in her werewolf form in 8-Kaitlyn if Abi is alive. If QTEs are succeeded, Abi will throw Kaitlyn a silver shell to shoot Emma. Emma can die in Chapter 10 if both Jacob and Emma are alive, Jacob did not pick up the silver bracelet in 1-Jacob, Emma was infected in Chapter 4, Jacob is infected, and Emma was cured by killing Chris in 9-Ryan-3. Werewolf Jacob will then kill Emma in 10-Jacob.

Killing Nick

Nick can only be killed in 8-Ryan-2. Do not choose 'Interrupt to Stop Laura' when she approaches the werewolf in the cage; she will shoot Werewolf Nick.

Killing Kaitlyn

Kaitlyn is most easily killed during the werewolf battle in 10-Kaitlyn-2, provided she is not infected. To kill only Kaitlyn, fail a QTE when Dylan is not with her. Kaitlyn can be killed even if infected in Chapter 10 if Dylan is not with her or infected: trap her in the freezer in 10-Kaitlyn-2 and then kill Silas. If Dylan is with her, kill him first. To kill only Dylan, choose 'Wait' and fail the Shootout event. Kaitlyn can be trapped in the freezer by surviving 10-Kaitlyn-2, not investigating knocks on the lodge office door, and choosing 'Freezer' in the lodge kitchen. This will cure Kaitlyn, who then dies in the freezer. If trapped with Caleb, failing the QTE to close the freezer door will kill both. Kaitlyn can be killed earlier in Chapter 9 with setup: Emma must be infected in Chapter 4. In Chapter 5, if Dylan is bitten, either amputate his hand or kill Abi in 6-Abi. To prevent Dylan being bitten, don't break into the cabin in 1-Abi. In 8-Kaitlyn, kill Dylan or separate him if infected. To kill him when uninfected, succeed QTEs until the werewolf jumps on the vehicle roof, then fail the next two Shootout events. If Dylan is infected and Abi is dead, the werewolf attacks Dylan; choose 'Run' or fail QTEs to separate them. The scrapyard Scenes in 9-Dylan-2 will feature Kaitlyn, and failing a QTE is possible.

Killing Max

Max can only be killed by shooting Werewolf Chris in 9-Ryan-3, which cures Max. If Laura is alive by the end of Chapter 9, Ryan must also be alive unless Laura is recaptured by Travis. With these conditions met, choose 'Swim' instead of 'Stay' at the end of 10-Max.

Killing Chris

Chris can only be killed in 9-Ryan-3 by Ryan shooting him. This cures all characters Chris has infected.

Killing Travis

Travis cannot be killed before Chapter 9. He can die at the end of Chapter 9 (9-Ryan-3 / 9-Laura-4) by not shooting either werewolf. If Laura shot Travis in 7-Laura-8, Ryan can kill him after Travis kills Laura in 9-Ryan-3. If Ryan refused Laura's bite in 9-Ryan-2, Laura can kill Travis in 9-Laura-4 when he tries to recapture her. In Chapter 10, Travis can be killed in 10-Laura-1.
