Part 9

Learn how to save Kaitlyn, Max, Chris, Travis, Bobby, Constance, and Jed in Part 9 of The Quarry, with specific choices and QTEs.

Saving Kaitlyn

Kaitlyn is at risk in 10-Kaitlyn-2 during the werewolf battle in the lodge. Failing almost any QTE will result in her death. When given the choice between the Window and the Beam, choose the Beam, as failing its QTE has a backup QTE. This is the only QTE in the battle that can be failed without character death, provided the attacked character isn't infected.

An alternative way to ensure Kaitlyn's survival in 10-Kaitlyn-2 is to get her infected in 9-Dylan-2 during the scrapyard battle, if she is with Dylan. She can get infected by failing the final QTE of the battle, which involves moving the rusty lever to position the vehicle over the werewolf.

Even if infected, Kaitlyn can still die if trapped in the freezer and Laura kills Silas at the end of the game. To prevent this, if you want to kill Silas, fail a QTE to end the battle early. If Dylan is with her, to prevent his death at the start of the battle, choose to Run rather than Wait, then fail a QTE before Kaitlyn reunites with Dylan.

If you do not want Kaitlyn infected, you must do one of the following in her penultimate scene, 10-Kaitlyn-2:

• Have Abi get the rabbit toy in 1-Abi by breaking into the cabin. In the lodge kitchen in 10-Kaitlyn-2, head for the Freezer, then Use Decoy to lure the werewolf into the freezer. Note: if Silas is killed later, this will also kill Caleb.
• Have Abi survive. In 10-Kaitlyn-2, choose to Investigate when Abi/Emma are knocking on the office door to attract her attention. Kaitlyn will get the silver shell and must use it to kill Werewolf Caleb.
• Have Emma survive and not get infected, and pick up the silver shells in the basement in 9-Abi-2. Saving Kaitlyn in 10-Kaitlyn-2 is the same as above: Investigate the door when Emma's knocking.
• Get Dylan infected after Chapter 5, specifically in 8-Kaitlyn or 9-Dylan-2. Do not get him infected in Chapter 5, or he won't be with Kaitlyn in 10-Kaitlyn-2. Getting Dylan infected in 8-Kaitlyn requires getting Emma infected in Chapter 4 so she can bite him. Getting Dylan infected in 9-Dylan-2 requires not breaking into the cabin in 1-Abi, so he retains his hand. With Dylan infected and with Kaitlyn in 10-Kaitlyn-2, have Kaitlyn go into the Freezer in the lodge kitchen; Dylan will save her. This method does not kill Caleb.

If none of the above prerequisites are met, Kaitlyn's fate is sealed in Chapter 10. If Kaitlyn is not infected by Chapter 10, do not fail any QTEs during the battle in 10-Kaitlyn-2. Choosing Run instead of Freezer when in the lodge kitchen will always result in Kaitlyn's death if she is not infected.

If Dylan is not with Kaitlyn in the scrapyard in 9-Dylan-2, succeed the QTEs during the werewolf attack. To get Kaitlyn infected here, choose Hide and fail the Don't Breathe event, but succeed other QTEs. To avoid this scenario, do not get Emma infected in Chapter 4, which prevents Dylan potentially getting killed or separated from Kaitlyn.

Saving Max

Simply do not choose to Swim to Shore in 10-Max. In many circumstances, this choice is not given, and Max will automatically stay alive.

Saving Chris

Do not shoot him in 9-Ryan-3. This will unavoidably kill both Ryan and Laura, and can also kill Travis. To save Travis as well, during the Shootout event where Werewolf Chris is usually killed, turn all the way to the right and shoot Werewolf Laura. This prevents her from killing Travis.

Saving Travis

In 9-Ryan-3, during the battle with Werewolf Chris, shoot either Werewolf Chris or Werewolf Laura during the Shootout event. Not shooting either werewolf results in Travis's death. If Laura shot Travis at the end of Chapter 7, and you shoot Werewolf Chris but not Werewolf Laura in 9-Ryan-3, Travis will turn against the counselors and kill Laura. To save Travis, fail the subsequent QTEs after Travis kills Laura. If Ryan refused Laura's bite in 9-Ryan-2, he dies after this scene, and Travis attempts to recapture Laura. To keep Travis alive, Laura must allow him to recapture her by not killing him; fail the QTEs at this point. During the car chase in 10-Laura-1, do not fail too many QTEs, or Travis will die. If the game reaches 10-Laura-2, you must kill Silas to save Travis. Raise the Gun and kill Silas. To prevent reaching this scene, either Ryan or Laura must be dead.

Saving Bobby

Do not choose the Interrupt to Stab him in 9-Ryan-2, provided Ryan still has the knife. Not stabbing Bobby has no adverse effect on Ryan.

Saving Constance

First, in 9-Laura-1, when Constance grabs Laura's gun, fail the QTE. This is a rare instance where failing a QTE is necessary to save a character and has no adverse effect on Laura. Second, save Bobby by not stabbing him, otherwise Constance will be killed in 9-Ryan-3.

Saving Jed

First, when Jed attacks Laura at the end of 9-Laura-2, after exploring the Hackett house, choose Run instead of Attack. Second, save Bobby by not stabbing him, otherwise Jed will be killed in 9-Ryan-3.

Saving Caleb

If not bo
