Follow the Thief: The Dark Project 5.8 walkthrough to navigate sewers, a wellhouse, and Lord Bafford's basement, collecting treasure along the way.
Walkthrough
- 1Start facing the house; turn right and move down the street, ignoring the first left turn.
- 2Continue past the clock and lamppost; on the rise, turn left into an alcove to find 12 Broadheads and 4 Water Arrows.
- 3Continue up the street to a sewer entrance and climb down the ladder.
- 4Move forward, take the first right, then continue straight at the four-way junction.
- 5Take the left turn, stop before the next intersection, and turn right to find a door.
- 6Go through the door, turn right, and pull the lever in the wall.
- 7Search the floor for dropped treasure worth 200 (Treasure Count: 200).
- 8Leave the sewer area the way you came.
- 9Turn right and proceed ahead in the sewer, then turn right and follow the tunnel.
- 10Climb the ladder and exit the sewers.
- 11Turn left and walk carefully due to a patrolling guard and a singing individual.
- 12Sneak behind the singing individual and take the key from their belt.
- 13Turn around and use the key on the nearby door to enter the wellhouse.
- 14Jump onto the edge and dive into the water.
- 15Surface and move forward with the water flow until you reach a circular room.
- 16Turn left nearly 180 degrees and swim down into the opening below.
- 17Swim through the tunnel and surface in a small pool with barrels.
- 18Locate a chest guarded by spiders, then climb out of the pool on a side without spiders.
- 19Run to the chest, open it, take the ring (100, Treasure Count: 300), and quickly return to the water before the spiders attack.
- 20Swim back out of the pool the way you came.
- 21In the circular room, continue following the water flow until you see a climbable area on your right.
- 22Climb into the room with barrels to enter Lord Bafford's basement.
- 23Go through the door and find a chest containing a healing potion.
- 24Turn left and head towards the exit, hugging the wall to avoid overheard voices.
- 25Listen until the guards move away, then move sideways out of the exit.
- 26Sneak forward after the guard ahead, then blackjack them.
- 27Move forward, turn right, and follow the passage into the Manor proper.
- 28Walk on carpet, avoiding the immediate left passage with metal grating.
- 29Head towards the doorway with a lit torch.
- 30Go through the doorway, turn left, and move through the exit ahead.
- 31Just inside this corridor, open a chest containing two Flash Bombs.
- 32Turn left, head down the corridor to the stairs, and take them to the top.
- 33At the top, find two more chests across from the exit.
- 34Open the propped chest to find a stack of coins (5, Treasure Count: 305).
- 35Ignore the other chest containing a noisy vase.
- 36Turn around, exit the room, turn right, and move past the first hallway and the room with sleeping beauty.
- 37Turn at the next right, and at the end of this hallway, take the right into the dead end.
- 38Turn left and enter the kitchen through the door.
- 39On the top shelf, find a golden vase (100, Treasure Count: 405).
- 40Leave the kitchen the way you came.
- 41Turn right and follow the corridor all the way, then turn right.
Tips
- You can ignore the initial arrows found in the alcove; typically, only about 5 Water Arrows are needed.
- A servant may appear on the street; you can hide, ignore them, or blackjack them, but it does not affect the game.
- The spiders in the pool can be killed with Broadheads, though they may become aggressive and require a sword. Alternatively, standing on the sloping side and jumping may cause them to drown. Running past them is the fastest method.
- When entering the Manor proper, avoid walking on the metal grating to prevent being overheard.
- The area after blackjacking the guard is dark, allowing you to leave the body unnoticed.
