If everything went well so far, you should now have 60 Trophies, leaving 7 still to be collected. The choice about how to proceed is up to you, but I don't feel that this guide would be complete if I didn't give my unsolicited advice about how you go about getting those last 7.

In theory, it is possible to knock out the remaining Trophies in 2 more runs. I'm going to recommend 4 runs (Well -- really more like 3 1/5) instead of 2, but, as always, I encourage you to follow your instincts on this.

Run 2 -- Levels 1 - 3 Only

My inclination is to knock out the 3 standalone Trophies when you don't have any restrictions on weapons or Saves, then get serious and tackle the ones that span the entire game.

Level 1 -- Caves

  • First of all, be sure to pick up all of the Medi Packs in this level. You're going to need them for the upcoming Dances With Wolves Trophy.
  • Go through level 1 until you encounter the bear. When you do, Save first, then drop down into the pit and engage her.
  • Hang around until she stands up on her back legs.
    • If you're close to her when she does, kill her off.
    • If you're a ways away, reload your game and try again until she stands when you're close.
  • When you are sure you got a good take on this, kill her off and finish the Level. This should only take about 10 -12 minutes tops.

Level 2 -- City of Vilcabama

  • Continue to Level 2. Save at the start of the level, then earn the Dances With Wolves Trophy as described below:
    • Run south through the first room to collect 4 wolves.
    • Jog left through the pool room and go straight for the switch on the wall and throw it. Throwing this switch gets MUCH harder as more wolves assault Lara, so I recommend doing it as early as possible.
    • Turn right (west) and enter the room in the SW corner to pick up wolf #5.
    • Roll and head east past the switch and turn right into the small room to get wolf #6.
    • Backtrack to where you threw the switch, enter the room, and head up the stairs.
    • Jump across the gap and over to the ledge to get the large Medi Pack.
    • Drop down and push the block into the room and get the Silver Key and the Gold Idol.
    • Continue overhead to get the Large Medi Pack and kill some bats. SAVE before dropping down.
    • Go south (to Lara's right as she faces the wall) into the pool room and take the first left.
    • Head straight for the key slot and use the Silver key.
    • Lead the marauding pack past the darts. Stop jumping as you approach the low doorway. Run straight for the building with the red roof, collecting the last 5 wolves along the way and, hopefully, getting the Trophy.
This is a whole lot harder than it sounds. The wolves will batter Lara every step of the way, making it very difficult to do simple things like throw a switch. Be sure to always jump while running except when jumping would make Lara hit her head. Jumping while running makes Lara move faster and makes it harder for the wolves to pin her down.
  • Reload your game at the start of Level 2. This time, kill off the first 4 Wolves, then go to the pool area.
  • Save your game, then engage the bear until you get a good performance like you did from the bear in Level 1.
  • Continue the level doing only necessary tasks. Ignore Secrets. Your mission is to get to the building with the red roof and open all 3 doors.
  • When you get to the third bear at the end of the level, Save the game and then engage her until she stand up and you get the Circus of Vilcabamba Trophy.
  • The door to Level 3 is open now, so you might as well use it. Save again.

Level 3 -- Lost Valley

  • Go through Level 3, performing only necessary tasks. Once T-Rex appears, you have to be sure that you don't fire even a single shot at it! Any damage at all will prevent this Trophy from appearing.
  • Gather the 3 cogs, then race out of the area. Every time that you safely arrive at a protected area (and you're POSITIVE that you haven't damaged the dinosaur!), Save your game.
  • Install the cogs and finish the level. The Raid Not Kill Trophy should appear when Lara moves on to Level 4.

Again, this is harder than I made it sound. T-Rex will follow you everywhere. Any hesitation or misstep can result in a quick death for Lara.

Okay. That knocks out 3 of the Trophies and should have taken about an hour.

Run 3 -- Two More Trophies

You should now be down to 4 unearned Trophies. The good news is that you no longer have to keep up with kills, Secrets, pickups, breakaway tiles, or much of anything else. The last 4 Trophies are earned by completing the game while under specific handicaps.

For the next run, I'm going to suggest the following 2 handicaps:

  1. Use pistols only.
  2. Limit yourself to 86 saves.

If you missed any of the first 60 Trophies, now is the time to try again.

Suggestions

  • The guide identifies the locations of Save Crystals in the PS1 game, but I don't advise saving at those places. For one thing, they aren't very evenly spaced. Moreover, you should have a pretty good idea of where you are likely to get a "Game Over" and therefore will need to Save. I would advise saving just before undertaking any task that is likely to kill Lara.
  • When deciding where to use your Save Points, be sure to factor in the reality that some battles, especially those in the last few levels, are going to be more difficult since Lara is limited to pistols only. When defeating enemies from a safe position, the weaker weapons only cost you time. However, if you're down on the ground with enemies charging straight at you, you're likely to take more damage, and a Game Over is not out of the question.
  • By using your Save Points judiciously, you can also skip some save points and use them later. For example, there are very few places in the first 4 levels where Lara is in any real danger of dying, and those levels in the PS1 game have a total of 9 Save Crystals. I only used 2 saves in those 4 levels, allowing me to stockpile the o
