26) Manipulating the RNG

Learn how to manipulate the pseudo-random number generator in Valkyrie Elysium to achieve desired outcomes, including max stats at level up and guaranteed treasure chests.

Valkyrie Elysium uses a pseudo-random number generator (RNG) to determine random outcomes in the game. By performing specific actions, you can influence the RNG to get desired results, such as maximizing character stats upon leveling up or ensuring all treasure chests appear in the Cave of Oblivion.

Important Save File Notes: For these tricks, you will need two save files: one on the World Map and one within a dungeon. Ensure characters in the dungeon save have no negative status effects (like Poison) and that there are no special screen effects (like snow or rain). Avoid using save points in Salerno Academy, Forest of Spirits, Arianrod Labyrinth, and the first save point in Tombs of Amenti.

Trick 1: Max Stats at Level Up

This trick allows a character to gain the maximum possible STR, AGL, DEX, and INT when leveling up.

• For Dungeon Saves:
  • Reset the game.
  • Load a World Map save.
  • Open and close the menu twice.
  • Load a dungeon save with four non-mage characters in the party.
  • Swing your sword 3 times.
  • Open the menu and use the Experience Orb to level the character up once.
• For World Map Saves:
  • Load a World Map save.
  • Open and close the menu once.
  • Load a dungeon save with X non-mage characters (where X is the number of non-mages you have).
  • Swing your sword 7-X times.
  • Load your World Map save again.
  • Open the menu and use the Experience Orb to level the character up once.

Trick 2: All Chests in Cave of Oblivion

This trick ensures that all potential treasure chests appear in the Cave of Oblivion. Note that the small C-shaped cave does not contain treasure. The type of chest that appears depends on the method used.

• Type 2 Chests:
  • Japanese and PSP Versions:
    • Reset the game.
    • Load a dungeon save with one non-mage character in the party.
    • Load the World Map save and enter the Cave.
  • North American PSX Version:
    • Reset the game.
    • Load a dungeon save with two non-mage characters in the party.
