Complete guide to all Substories in Yakuza 3 Chapter 4, including 'Early Honeymoon', 'The Seven Mysteries of Ryukyu' series, 'Bottled Love', and more. Find out how to trigger and complete each one.
Most of these Substories become available at the moment you get control in the chapter, which is at nighttime. There are additional ones that only become available during the day, and I'll note those specifically as we go.
#5 - Early Honeymoon
The trigger for this substory is a little difficult. First, it has to be daytime. Second, you have to have Haruka with you. Third, Kiryu must be in his suit for this to trigger. This is to say that the window for this substory is near the end of Chapter 4, after Kiryu changes back into his suit and you say goodbye to everyone. Fortunately, the trigger to hit it is pretty easy. Simply walk out towards the beach and you'll come across Akimoto and Mizuki, two characters that Kiryu and Haruka have run into both in _Yakuza 1_ and _2_. Yes, as Kiryu brings up, they have a habit of meeting when Akimoto is about to kill himself for some reason. The two are apparently now engaged and on vacation. After you talk to them, they'll leave and head down to the Public Market. Follow them there and go upstairs to find them in the food court eating. Next, follow them to Stone Market, the jewelry shop near the intersection of Ryukyu and Kitaryu. They'll take off. Now, go back to the beach. Speak to Koji and he'll mention the couple. Agree to check on them and here we go again. Choose the following dialogue choices "She probably wanted to help the old lady.", "She probably couldn't say no to her mom.", "That's honorable of her.", "She's going to be a great wife.", "She must really want kids with you." You actually do get quite a bit experience from this, so it's worth going for.
#11 - The Seven Mysteries of Ryukyu 1
This must be completed at night. Outside of the M Store on Ryukyu St., you'll see three schoolgirls gathered. Approach them and they'll warn you not to go near the lockers at night. Approach the lockers and you'll hear a moaning, but will also rustle a few thugs. Ask them about the rumor and they'll attack you. They'll then drop the key to Locker #44. Use it and you'll find a "Mystery Cell Phone". Head back downstairs and you'll be attacked by even more thugs. Beat them down to end the substory.
#12 - The Seven Mysteries of Ryukyu 2
Once you complete the previous story, go to the west side of Ryukyu Blvd. just outside of the Blue Seal Ice Cream to find the three schoolgirls again. They'll mention "The Devil Cat". Enter Aqua Sky and head back out and you'll encounter a black cat. Follow it east along the river path and you'll spot it on the sidewalk. Approach it and a guy will fight you. He'll give you a Catnip Stick afterwards. Now go west and you'll find another cat on the ground. Give it the Catnip and it will head down into the nearby lot. Follow it and you'll come across an old lady having chest pains. Go to the nearest M Store and get some Suntory Mineral Water. Give it to her and you'll get 10,000 yen.
#13 - The Seven Mysteries of Ryukyu 3
Once you complete the previous story, go to the bridge on Kitaryu and you'll find the girls again. Now they're talking about a friend who disappeared and may have been a victim of the "Phantom Tour Guide". Near the bridge you'll find a black man with a green shirt. He'll offer you a tour. Accept his offer and one thing leads to another. You'll end up having to beat up four tough dudes and you'll get 30,000 yen as a reward.
#14 - The Seven Mysteries of Ryukyu 4
Once you complete the previous story, go to the southwest part of the North Public Market to find the girls again. They're now talking about "Mythical Goya Juice". As they leave, a kid shows up, looking for the juice to make his mom better. The lady in the shop will tell you what ingredients you need: goya, kuruzata, basanai, dugwai, and lemon. Head to the Public Market, and east of the stairs leading up you'll find a woman you can talk to. Do so and you can buy the various groceries from her.
- If you buy from her: bitter melon, lemon, brown sugar (kuruzata), aloe (dugwai), and bananas (basanai). Return all the ingredients to the old lady and you'll get a Staminan Royale.
- It has been revealed to me that there's an even better outcome for this substory. Get the bitter melon, brown sugar, and aloe as before, but instead get island bananas and shikwasa. This will bring about a better result and your reward will be a Staminan Spark. Thanks to GameFAQs user Vahti for revealing this.
#15 - The Seven Mysteries of Ryukyu 5
You get the idea by now. The girls are just north of Maeda Drugs. You'll earn about a "Coral Love Necklace". Speak to the vendor and buy one. Now head south to the corner of the arcade and you'll run into a lady who will lift 50,000 yen off you. Head back towards the vendor and you'll hear one of the girls complaining. Speak to the vendor and he'll direct you to the second floor section south of the Ryudo Office. It's right near Kamiyama Works. You'll speak to the manufacturer. Select "Return the Necklace" and things will get a bit punchy. Once the bad dudes are down, you'll get 100,000 yen, which is enough to more than offset what you lost.
#16 - The Seven Mysteries of Ryukyu 6
The girls are now in front of the Public Market entrance. They're talking about "Golden Agu". Enter the Public Market and head east. Speak to the pair of people, then to the man that stays behind. You'll learn that some dudes at the north end of town (northeast of Flawless) are selling some pork and claiming it's Golden Agu. Head there and defeat the piggish man and you'll get 50,000 yen.
#20 - Bottled Love
The trigger for this one is nuts. It only appears after you complete "Early Honeymoon", and only after you meet Mack and learn about Revelations. Head down to the beach alone and to the west side. You'll find a bottle washed ashore. Haruka will join you and after you read the letter, will mention seeing a bottle like that in Kariyushi Arcade. Head down there and go to the sout
