Complete guide to all 119 Substories in Yakuza 3 Remastered. Learn how to achieve the best outcome for each mini-drama sidequest and earn your rewards.
Substories are a source of much enjoyment in the Yakuza series. They are essentially "mini-drama" sidequests where Kiryu is approached by a member of the populace and asked to solve their problem. Typically, you'll have to walk to a different place to progress the substory. Once there, you'll either beat someone up or talk to someone. Upon completion, you'll usually receive some kind of reward.
In Yakuza 3, there are two "levels" of completion for substories. Completing a substory with the best possible outcome will result in a star next to its name in your menu. If you completed it but did not achieve the best outcome, you'll get a checkmark. For basic completion, both are the same, and achieving the best outcome is not required for 100% completion. The only things missed are potentially better rewards and the shame of not doing your best.
There are 119 substories in Yakuza 3. This guide lists them in the order they appear in the in-game Completion list, which is not numbered. If you are comparing lists, look for substories in this guide that are not on yours, then click the link to be taken to that substory's section.
