Well, throughout your gruesome adventure, you'll meet some folks who are willing to lend a hand (or a weapon!) against the shambling hordes. These partners are super handy because they can draw the zombies' attention away from you, giving you breathing room, and they can even take down a few undead on their own. Don't expect them to clear out massive crowds, but in tight spots like the underground areas, they're a really nice bonus to have.

The best part? You unlock these allies by completing substories. So, as you're progressing through the game and tackling those side missions, keep an eye out for opportunities to recruit these helpful characters. And here's a cool bit of info: once you've unlocked a partner, *any* character you're playing as can team up with them. So, even though I'll list them by who initially unlocks them, they aren't stuck with just that one protagonist.

Now, about Bob Utsunomiya – he's a bit of a special case. You can recruit him once you've reached the Premium Adventure mode. Just head over to Gary's Boot Camp, and you'll find him hanging around. Simply chat with him, and he'll join your crew.

One last tip for you: if you're looking to level up your partners and gain some experience, a good spot to grind is the sewers on Taihei Blvd. During Ryuji's or Kiryu's sections, you'll find specific types of zombies down there. For Ryuji, it's a Diptera and a Fattie. For Kiryu, you'll encounter an Aggro and a Diptera, plus a bunch of regular zombies. Just fight them, leave the sewers, and then re-enter to repeat the process. It's a solid way to rack up some decent experience points for your allies.
