Return 2: The Heart

Follow the Return 2: The Heart walkthrough for Alan Wake 2: The Lake House to track Nightingale, find the Heart at the General Store, and get the Sawed-off Shotgun.

Walkthrough:

1. Follow Alex down the shortcut towards the crime scene.
2. Pass the FBC station and observe the people outside, including Ilmo Koskela. You can enter the station to read a Maintenance Note.
3. Continue following Alex to the crime scene, which is flooded.
4. Examine the makeshift sacrificial altar for the double triangle sign.
5. Examine the table for a clue and speak to Alex.
6. Head in the direction indicated by the triangles to find bare footprints, presumably Nightingale's.
7. Follow the path to the water's edge, wade in, and collect supplies from an emergency cabinet.
8. Follow the flooded path south past the Witch's Ladle sign until you reach the tree where the trail previously ended.
9. Examine the tracks on the tree and approach the shimmering area.
10. Boost your torch (R1) to burn away the darkness and reveal the Manuscript Page (4/56) titled "Saga Finds a Safe Haven".
11. Backtrack and locate the ledge leading to the Witch's Hut.
12. As you approach, Alex will radio to say he is checking something in the woods.
13. Examine the fuse box on the side of the hut; a fuse is missing.
14. Cross the bridge to the west and search the blue boxes to find a working fuse.
15. Return to the hut and use the fuse on the fuse box to restore power.
16. Enter the hut to unlock the Coffee Thermos trophy and access the Break Room.
17. Examine the Shoebox to find unlocked weapons and charms from previous playthroughs.
18. On the table with the coffee thermos, find the Manuscript Page (52/56) titled "Dark Poem 1".
19. Grab supplies from a cabinet and search the shelves in the corner for the Manuscript Page (5/56) titled "Saga Opens the Cauldron Lake Overlap".
20. Return to the Mind Place, open Robert Nightingale's profile, and select the Overlap topic.
21. Go to the Case Board, open the Murder at Cauldron Lake case, and place the collected clues against the Where Did Nightingale Go? question.
22. Place the Cauldron Lake Witch's Hut key image on the board to unlock the What Is the Ritual? question.
23. Place the manuscript clues against the new question to add Where is the Heart? and Words on the Heart?.
24. Saga will deduce that the ritual requires finding Nightingale's heart and placing it through the hole in the Witch's Ladle sign to open the Overlap.
25. Return to Nightingale's profile, select The Heart topic, then The Heart! Where Is It?.
26. Saga will determine that Nightingale's heart is in the General Store.
27. Return to the Case Board, place the new clue against Where is the Heart?.
28. Open the Cult of the Tree case, place the "Triangle carving" clue against Cult Symbols...? to unlock another clue for Cult Psychology...?.
29. Leave the Witch's Hut and take the path southeast and south to the General Store.
30. Proceed towards the back of the store, where a cultist will break through the wall.
31. Darkness Coiled / Chasing the Source / Aimed Ahead: Press R1 to burn away the enemy's Darkness Shield, unlocking a trophy. A red area called a Source Point will appear on the enemy's torso. Shoot the Source Point for significant damage and unlock a second trophy. Finish the enemy with a couple of rounds to the skull; a third trophy is for killing five enemies with headshots.
32. If you took damage, exit the store and stand under the light to recover health.
33. Enter the room the enemy emerged from and find a hip pouch on a filing cabinet.
34. Picking up the pouch adds four inventory spaces, unlocking the Grew Bigger trophy.
35. Examine the locked gun cabinet on the wall; the clue for the combination is
