Walkthrough
- 1After a cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically) (a narrative event shown between gameplay), you unlock the trophy 'The Other Side'. Saga debriefs Alan about his time in the 'Dark Place' (a nightmare dimension) and the Dark Presence, Mr. Scratch. Alan explains he wrote a manuscript to escape, but Scratch edited it to enter the world. He mentions the Cult of the Tree has the 'Clicker' (an item needed to stop the Dark Presence) and that he knows this from a manuscript page.
- 2Open the Case Board. You have two new cases: 'The Trail of the Cult' and 'The Story'.
- 3Open 'The Trail of the Cult' case. Place the 'Alan Wake Interview' key image on the board. This unlocks the question 'Where Is the Clicker?' and a clue. Add a clue to the 'Cult Goals?' section of the 'Cult of the Tree' case, leading to the question 'Cult Working For/With Someone?'.
- 4Open the 'Story' case. Add it to the board. Place the 20 (or 19) unlocked clues to reveal questions like 'How Does Story Change Reality? Rules?', 'The Dark Place...?', 'Dark Presence...?', 'Light and the Dark Presence?', 'The Overlap...?', 'How to Enter?', and 'How to Stop the Story?'. One clue will be marked 'For Later'.
- 5Go to the profiling table and bring up Wake's profile. Select the 'Scratch' topic; Saga intuits Scratch is in Washington. Select 'Scratch and Wake'; Saga hypothesizes Scratch escaped because Alan did. Select 'The Cult and the Clicker'; Saga realizes Alan only knows about this from a manuscript page.
- 6Leave the Mind Place (a mental space where you can examine clues and profiles). Challenge Alan to receive the 'Trailer' Manuscript Page (13/56).
- 7Return to the Mind Place. Read the new manuscript page. Bring up the 'Trail of the Cult' case on the Case Board and place the new clue on 'Where Is the Clicker?', opening the question 'Trailer?'.
- 8Leave the Mind Place. Saga announces she is going to Watery to find the trailer. Alan wants to join, but Alex states it's an FBI investigation.
- 9Switch Reality: You can now use the Break Room in the corner. There is a red janitor's bucket that you can use to switch to Alan's storyline. From this point on, you can switch between the two characters' stories when you're in any Break Room with a janitor's bucket.
- 10Back in the previous room, Alan has a new conversation option, 'About these pages...'. This gives you a clue to add to 'Cult of the Tree' / 'Writing Part of Ritual?'.
- 11Leave the private room and go to reception. The TV will be playing the 'Coffee World' Koskela Ad (2/6).
- 12Continue through to the corridor with the rooms. Enter room 101. The radio will be playing the 'Terry's Cuckoo Clocks' Radio Show (3/7).
- 13Go into room 107, where Ed and Tammy Booker are staying. You can read Ed's notes on the desk. Find the 'Ed Returns to Cauldron Lake' Manuscript Page (14/56) on the floor.
- 14Check the bedside table in room 107 to find the 'Tammy Rides the Ferry' Manuscript Page (15/56).
- 15Leave the Elderwood Palace Lodge and go up the street to the Oh Deer Diner. Approach the TV on the wall to see the 'Ahma Beer' Koskela Ad (3/6). (Note: This ad may have no sound or subtitles when played normally, but will play correctly in the Mind Place).
- 16Leave the diner and head back towards the lodge. Turn right into Coal St. Approach the Drehen Tools & Hardware building. A radio will play the 'Jim's Mayoral Candidacy' Radio Show (4/7).
- 17Go back to the car parked outside the Elderwood Palace Lodge. Choose to drive to Watery.
- 18In Watery, cross the road to Suomi Hall and examine the 'Mayor Setter Will Stand Up for Justice' Sign (3/6).
- 19Enter Suomi Hall. Ahti will be on stage singing, unlocking the Ahti - 'Yötön Yö' Song (5/14). Turn around and examine the map of Watery (7/11). You cannot talk to the people here as they will scold you for interrupting the show. Read the notes on the notice boards. There is a supply container in the toilet and a Break Room in the top-left corner. Find the Deer Head (5/12) on the wall of the Break Room.
- 20Go outside and speak to Vladimir Blum, standing by the Valhalla Nursing Home bus. He cryptically states Tor and Odin are not here. Ask about a trailer; he suggests speaking to Ilmo Koskela by the bridge.
- 21Go to Kari's Garage next door. Behind it, you will find two supply containers.
Tips
- You can switch between Saga and Alan's storylines using a janitor's bucket in any Break Room.
- The 'Ahma Beer' Koskela Ad may require playing in the Mind Place to hear sound and see subtitles.
