This guide was initially created to document numerous random events in the game that were not previously recorded. Lacking official documentation or leaks from guidebooks, the creator used Notepad and the game itself, separating the content into multiple files before combining and organizing them into sectors and sub-sectors. This process involved using approximately 19 save folders to thoroughly investigate hidden elements and restart the game to discover seldom-seen random events.

A significant and enjoyable part of creating this guide was documenting the K.I.A. database. This involved using Audacity to meticulously listen to in-game character dialogue for Voight-Kampff transcriptions, often requiring multiple listenings before writing down the details. Some transcriptions were challenging to hear but were eventually clarified through revisions or by sourcing information from dictionaries or external news.

After the initial guide was completed, all text, paragraphs, and grammar were rechecked using Microsoft Word to ensure proper display on GameFAQs.com. It was uploaded on May 3rd, 2016, and became the most detailed FAQ for the game. Over time, its comprehensive detail attracted readers, leading to significant feedback and earning the guide a star from GameFAQs.

The guide has undergone several revisions. Initially, many details were added and unnecessary ones removed, with the version history updated accordingly. The creator revised the guide five times in its first year. In 2018, a contributor emailed with corrections and additions to the Voight-Kampff transcriptions, including a new, unused subject. This prompted further updates, incorporating new in-game discoveries and information from the contributor's YouTube channel, which documented unused content. The guide also included information relevant to the ScummVM version, even before official support was added, to inform readers about its availability on modern computers.

Prior to November 2019, the guide received another update to fix errors, add new writings, and include more discoveries. The Soundtrack section was significantly expanded due to updates on Frank Klepacki's website. With the help of a contributor, who provided save files for elusive random events and shared insights from his Discord page on unraveling hidden content through codes, the guide was further enhanced. This update, released in November 2019, was significant for readers, gamers, and the Blade Runner fandom. However, the creator notes that updates may continue as more hidden content within the game is yet to be discovered, making it premature to declare a final version.
