Complete Demon's Souls Prison of Hope walkthrough covering enemies, items like Augite of Guidance, and the Fool's Idol boss fight.
Walkthrough
- 1Start on the west side of 3F. Exit your cell. To your right is a closed cell, then an open cell containing Augite of Guidance x3. Past that is a locked door.
- 2Turn around and head past your starting cell and locked cells to a turn. A mind flayer will approach from the opposite side. Use pillars for cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects), then attempt a backstab if using melee, or keep behind pillars between spell casts if using ranged attacks.
- 3At the end of this hallway, break through junk in the corner to find a Renowned Warrior Soul. Check the wall on the right to find the Prison of Hope, 3F Cell Key.
- 4Work back towards the archstone. The sixth cell (closest) contains Wizard's Shoes, Wizard's Gloves, Wizard's Clothes, and a Wooden Catalyst. The fifth cell has harmless prisoners, and the fourth cell has hostile prisoners. Leave them locked.
- 5Return to where you found the key and proceed past the locked cells. Cells 1, 2, and 3 are empty. Cell 4 past the fork has hostile prisoners. The last cell (5) contains a Mercurystone Shard, and a Renowned Warrior Soul is outside of it.
- 6Return to the fork and proceed to the east side of 3F, being careful of a mind flayer from the left.
- 7Turn right to find two cells. Cell 1 is empty, cell 2 has a Mercurystone Shard.
- 8On the other side of the fork, cell 3 has friendly prisoners and a hanging corpse. Use arrows or magic to aim at the chain to claim Bright Water.
- 9Cell 4 has a Silver Coronet and a friendly prisoner. Cell 5 only has friendly prisoners.
- 10Past cell 5 is another turning path with another mind flayer. After defeating it, check the hook on the wall to find the Prison of Hope, 3F Key, which opens the first locked door near the archstone.
- 11Continue past the hook and explore the next cells. Cell 1 has a friendly prisoner, cell 2 has hostile prisoners, cell 3 has a Mercurystone Shard. The end of the path has a Renowned Warrior Soul.
- 12Return to the west portion of the prison and the archstone. You can return to the Nexus. Unlock the door to the right of the archstone and pass through the fog.
- 13Climb stairs to the west side of 4F. A friendly escaped prisoner greets you.
- 14The first large cell on this side has an Unknown Hero Soul, a hanging corpse with Noble's Lotus, and an iron maiden containing a Stone of Ephemeral Eyes.
- 15The second cell is locked and will be revisited.
- 16At the end of the hallway, turn right. Beware of a mind flayer on the other side of the door to the left.
- 17The first large room is full of prisoners, some hostile. Clear them out and pick up Fresh Spice.
- 18The second cell is a pass-through room with a hanging corpse holding Bright Water. Two iron maidens contain an Unknown Hero Soul and Black Boots, Black Gloves, Black Leather Garb, and an Assassin's Mask.
- 19Pass through the hole in the wall to the eastern side of 4F. DO NOT OPEN THE IRON MAIDEN without your shield up, as a prisoner will emerge and inflict Poison.
- 20Beware of another mind flayer on the other side of the door.
- 21To the left is a short drop back down to 3F east. Hang a right instead and pick up the Prison of Hope, 4F Cell Key and Prison of Hope, 4F Key from the hook on the wall.
- 22Head back through the rooms and make your way back to the archstone.
Tips
- Mind flayers are a significant threat due to their ranged attacks and ability to inflict paralysis. Sneaking up on them for a melee attack or using cover effectively is crucial.
- Some prisoners are hostile and will impede your progress, making them a threat similar to other enemies.
- Prisoners in iron maidens can inflict Poison. Ensure you have Noble's Lotus to cure it.
- The boss, Fool's Idol, is weak to Fire.
- Use pillars for cover against ranged attacks from enemies.
- Break through junk piles to find hidden items.
- Check walls and hooks for keys and other items.
- Be cautious when opening iron maidens, as they can contain enemies or inflict status effects.
