Alright, let's dive into Part 6 of our Fable II adventure! We're going to be tackling some tough enemies and making our way through Westcliff, all leading up to a big arena challenge.
First up: The Forest Troll
You'll encounter these guys, and they look a bit like worms. Don't get too close, they've got a nasty punch and kick. Your best bet is to strafe around them and shoot their nerve tendrils when they pop out. Some tendrils are tricky to hit, especially those on its back or the insides of its arms. Keep moving, too! This troll has two ranged attacks: it'll hurl rocks at you, or slam the ground, sending waves of dirt your way. All of its attacks will knock you down, so constant movement is key.
Once the Forest Troll is down, head to where it was standing. Your trusty dog will sniff out a Dig Spot. Dig there to find Lucien's Diary. Theresa will chime in, telling you it needs a translation. Your next stop is the Chamber of Fate in the Guild.
Heading to Westcliff and The Crucible
Travel back to the Chamber of Fate and give Lucien's Diary to Theresa. She'll explain that Lucien is recruiting guards from Westcliff, the very ones who become champions of The Crucible. Your mission now is to head to Westcliff, become a Crucible champion yourself, get recruited by Lucien, and then you can finally head to The Spire to rescue Garth.
Make your way to Brightwood and find Westcliff Road. Hammer will be waiting for you on the south road. Join her, and enter the Bandit Coast region. Get ready for a whole lot of bandit-slaying!
As you move through the open wooden gates, expect an ambush. Keep pushing up the path, and then up the steps – more bandits will appear. Head downhill, and keep an eye out for a Silver Key to your left, along with even more bandits. Continue downhill, and you guessed it, more bandits! Thankfully, Hammer is a great help in a fight. There's also a path to the left running along the cliff edge with a door; it's worth checking out if you're feeling adventurous.
Keep pushing uphill, fighting bandits as you go. You'll eventually cross a wooden bridge and reach another wooden gate. Hammer will smash it open, and you'll encounter the Highwayman (or Assassin) for the first time. Take them all down, including the Highwayman, and make sure to loot the camp before moving on.
Cross another wooden bridge and enter Westcliff.
Balverine Trouble in Westcliff
Once in Westcliff, follow the path and you'll see your first Balverine. Move a bit further, and two more will attack. These guys are fast and can be a real pain with their quick claw swings. Remember to block! They also have a nasty habit of jumping from a distance to knock you over, so don't bother trying to charge up spells. When they're taking a beating, they'll often jump into the air and land behind you, so be ready to counter-attack.
Continue along the path, dealing with Balverines. You'll soon hear a woman scream. Find her, and she'll tell you her son was captured and ask for your help. She'll join you and Hammer. Head over the bridge to the left, into an area with some shacks. From there, take a path into a misty, ruin-filled area with water. Follow it to a stone bridge, cross it, and head towards what looks like a ruined castle with Balverines on the walls.
Go through the archway and down the steps into the Howling Halls. Inside, navigate the hallways until you reach a large room with stone pillars. Surprise! The lady tricked you into coming here to feed her Balverine offspring. Lots of Balverines will attack, so fight them off with Hammer's assistance. Hammer will then decide it's time to make an escape, knocking over a pillar to create a bridge over some spikes.
This is where the White Balverine shows up. It's bigger and much tougher than the regular ones. Try to catch Hammer's cool pillar-toppling animation while you're fighting. Defeat the White Balverine, then cross the new bridge with Hammer and enter the opening. Continue through the hallways to a room with a chest. Beyond that is a circular room with a spiral staircase. Head up the stairs, and you'll find a Silver Key in a small alcove. Finally, go through the last hallway to exit the Howling Halls and return to Westcliff.
