Walkthrough for Final Fantasy XIII-2's AF400 Academia area. Includes enemy locations, item discoveries, and strategies for defeating the boss Zenobia.
Walkthrough
- 1From the starting position, go east and examine the panel to change the nearby escalator from red to blue.
- 2Go up the escalator and dash north into an Alley for a scene. This is a safe zone.
- 3Talk to Miss Horizon to accept the quest of delivering explored maps when you hit 100% coverage. You receive the Sunleth Waterscape fragment (01/13) and 200 CP.
- 4Near Miss Horizon, a treasure cube contains the ‘Farewells’ Gate Seal, unlocking Time Reversal in AF300 Sunleth Waterscape.
- 5From Chocolina, go west, defeat enemies, and then a group of 3x Koboldroid Yan to remove a yellow barrier.
- 6Go south over a catwalk, then east to defeat a Fencer guarding an orange barrier.
- 7Take the stairs north and fall into an event battle.
- 8Proceed east downstairs near the escalator into Grand Avenue Square.
- 9Turn left onto Grand Avenue and go straight west, fighting waves of enemies.
- 10After a scene with Soul Edge, continue west and go down the blue escalator into another section of Central Bridge. A scene of the bridge collapsing plays, and enemies stop bothering you.
- 11Take a detour south to find the Kaiser Knuckles.
- 12Dash north and then west across the broken bridge, then turn north again. Activate the panel to change the nearby escalator from red to blue.
- 13Take the escalator up, turn west into New Town, and then turn south.
- 14Ignore the red escalator branching off west, and take the next road west. Turn north and engage the Fencer guarding a barrier.
- 15Ride the blue escalator up. Chocolina is to the right if you need supplies.
- 16From Chocolina, go west and win two event battles before facing Zenobia.
Tips
- Treasures in this timeline are best collected in the AF4XX Academia timeline due to constant enemy spawns.
- If your accessory capacity is 100, equipping three accessories that increase ATK by 10% grants the synth ability Vampiric Strike (3% of damage incurred is absorbed as HP recovery).
- The monster Geiseric can be found further north. It drops 1000 CP and 5000 gil but is very tough; consider fighting it later.
Boss Battle: Zenobia
Stats / Weaknesses:
- Tentacles are weak to all element magic.
- Zenobia takes full brunt of magic assaults after tentacles are destroyed, but halves physical attacks.
Phases:
- Zenobia deploys tentacles that shield it. Destroy them with element magic. Tentacles can debuff you with Fog and Deprotect.
- With tentacles gone, Zenobia is vulnerable to magic. Employing a SAB to apply Deprotect, Deshell, and Poison is effective.
- At ~75% HP, Zenobia deploys another set of tentacles that can also attack and heal Zenobia. Destroy them with three RAVs.
- Switch to triple SEN to reduce damage from an incoming attack as tentacles protrude.
- Finish off Zenobia.
Strategy:
- Destroy the initial tentacles quickly with element magic.
- Use a SAB to apply debuffs like Deprotect, Deshell, and Poison.
- When Zenobia deploys tentacles again, use three RAVs to destroy them.
- Switch to a defensive formation (triple SEN) to mitigate damage from the second set of tentacles.
- Focus attacks on Zenobia once the tentacles are dealt with.
- For a perfect Cinematic Action: Crystal Petal.
- AF400 Academia Fragment - Zenobia Fragment (02/13) and 6000 CP.
- Tower Artefact.
