Gameplay: Set in Southern France and Northern Italy, the game revolves around a musical festival. It features a dynamic weather system and Drivatar AI. While barrier-less, invisible walls exist. Single-player and multiplayer are integrated, with Drivatars replaced by players in online play. Car Meets allow for quick races and car customization exchanges. The Perk system enhances gameplay, and the Xbox One version includes the Horizon Wheelspin.

Events: Over 700 events are available, including barrier-less cross-country races for up to 12 players. Driving challenges are presented in "Bucket Lists," triggered by specific vehicles. New Bucket Lists are released or updated post-launch.

Versions: The Xbox 360 version has significant differences due to weaker hardware, including a scaled-down engine from the first Forza Horizon, missing dynamic weather, water/dirt effects, and inaccessible areas. It has fewer cars but includes 3 exclusive ones. It also features a different achievement list, a different title screen song, and lacks Horizon Wheelspins and Car Clubs. DLCs and updates were not released for the Xbox 360 version.

Vehicles: The game features over 200 cars. A Porsche Expansion was released in 2015, adding over 10 Porsche vehicles and related content.

Downloadable Content: DLC includes passes, car packs, expansions, bundles, and promotional packs. The standalone expansion "Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious" was released on March 27, 2015.
