Forza Horizon 2 is the second installment in the Forza Horizon series, a spin-off from the Forza Motorsport series. It was released on September 30, 2014. The Xbox One version uses the Forza Motorsport 5 game engine, developed by Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios, while the Xbox 360 version uses the original Forza Horizon engine, developed by Sumo Digital. Online services for the game were shut down on August 22, 2023.

Gameplay: Set in Southern France and Northern Italy, Forza Horizon 2 features a dynamic weather system and Drivatar AI. It emphasizes the integration of single-player and multiplayer aspects, allowing players to encounter Drivatars and participate in Car Meets for races and car customization exchanges. A Perk system enhances gameplay, and the Xbox One version includes the Horizon Wheelspin.

Events: The game offers over 700 events, including barrier-less cross-country races for up to 12 players. Driving challenges are presented in "Bucket Lists," which can be triggered by entering specific vehicles placed throughout the game world. New Bucket Lists are released or updated post-launch.

Versions: The Xbox 360 version has significant differences from the Xbox One version, including scaled-down graphics, missing dynamic weather, water and dirt effects, and inaccessible areas. It also features a different car list, achievement list, and lacks Horizon Wheelspins and Car Clubs. This version is noted for having more bugs and glitches.

Vehicles: Forza Horizon 2 features over 200 cars. A Porsche Expansion was released in 2015, adding over 10 Porsche vehicles.

Downloadable Content: Downloadable content includes passes, car packs, expansions, bundles, and promotional packs. Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious is a standalone expansion released on March 27, 2015.
