Gears of War 4 Part 23 walkthrough: Defeat the Berserker, find Cog Tags CT26, and plug Locust holes. Includes tips for Bad To Worse and Hazing.
Walkthrough
- 1Head down the staircase, pick up ammo, shoot the propane tanks in the back of the truck, and proceed through.
- 2From the start of Bad To Worse (A43), head forward and look for Cog Tags (CT26) at the corner of the building.
- 3After picking up the Cog Tags, make two left turns and approach the doors.
- 4Take cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects) near the doors and snipe all enemies, using a shotgun for Wretches, or throw a grenade near the Cog Tags to plug the Locust hole, then use your shotgun for any enemies that climb up.
- 5When the Locust hole is sealed, two Boomers will appear near the doors. Find the Hammer of Dawn nearby and use it.
- 6Switch back to your previous weapon (important to get another Longshot later) and go through the now open door.
- 7Enter the building and proceed until you reach the first greenhouse area.
- 8As you exit the greenhouse, a Berserker will appear. Dodge its attacks and head through the door it emerged from.
- 9Continue down the hallway to the next greenhouse area. You can try to lure the Berserker to knock down the tree in front of it.
- 10Head forward through the area. At the bloodstain in the middle, find the Hammer of Dawn and switch to it.
- 11To use the Hammer of Dawn, you must make the Berserker run into the green pillars to knock them down, clearing the way through the glass ceiling.
- 12Lure the Berserker into the pillars by positioning yourself so it hits a wall and dances, then dodge. Repeat for all pillars.
- 13Once all pillars are down, use the Hammer of Dawn on the Berserker when it is stunned after hitting something or stopping. It takes three bursts on Insane difficulty.
- 14After defeating the Berserker, head up the middle to find a valve. Turn it to extinguish the fire blocking a hole in the wall.
- 15Proceed through the hole.
- 16In Hazing (A44), head left to find a doorway. Go down the hallway and peek around the corner.
- 17If you have the Hammer of Dawn, use it on the Troika. Otherwise, snipe the Troika quickly.
- 18Prioritize taking out the Troika.
- 19When the Troika is dead, an Emergence hole will appear. Try to plug it, or position yourself opposite it with a shotgun ready.
- 20Kill the emerging Locusts and Wretches.
- 21Hop over the low wall in the doorway on the right side (from where you entered). The Hammer of Dawn is no longer available.
- 22Head left from where you exit the hallway and find a Lancer.
- 23Take cover behind a flower box and snipe long-range targets, using a shotgun for close-range enemies.
- 24Advance to the bench at the far end where a Locust frequently takes cover.
- 25Fall back to the bench and snipe all enemies that appear on the other side until a Boomer appears.
Tips
- On Insane difficulty, the right path is recommended due to fewer Wretches. The Troika can be dealt with using a Torque Bow if necessary.
- Use the Torque Bow on Boomers at the beginning for easy kills if you cannot snipe them.
- A Boomer can be found in the open door across the courtyard from the Sniper's nook, or picked up from Theron Guards.
- The Longshot is useful on several occasions in this section.
- For the Berserker, dodge its attacks and lure it into the green pillars to break the glass ceiling before using the Hammer of Dawn.
- On Insane, the Berserker takes three Hammer of Dawn bursts. Close-range shotgun damage when the beam falters may help on lower difficulties but is not recommended due to ammo waste.
- To quickly deal with the Locust hole before the Bad To Worse section, rush and plug it early. Use the Hammer of Dawn on the Boomers.
- If you don't have the Hammer of Dawn in Hazing, try to snipe the Troika before it becomes a problem.
- If you can't plug the Emergence hole in Hazing, get on the opposite side and be ready with your shotgun.
