Forging allows you to create your own weapons in Gothic 1 Remake. This skill requires learning from specific NPCs and has a significant Learning Point (LP) cost for each sword type. While early forged weapons are not very powerful, later ones can be strong.

The basics of forging can be learned from either Harad as his apprentice or from Bennet at Onar's Farm. Bennet will only teach you advanced ore-based weapons if you are a mercenary. Harad will only teach you if you have signed up with him.

All sword forging skills cost 5 LP to learn. It is recommended to focus on either one-handed or two-handed weapons, as learning to forge both can be an inefficient use of LP. Unlike alchemy, forging does not require learning basic versions before stronger ones; you can learn the more advanced recipes directly if you choose.

    Self-Forged Sword: Requires 1 piece of raw steel. Use raw steel on a Forge Fire to get Red Hot Steel, then use the heated steel on an anvil to forge the sword. Can be learned from Harad or Bennet.

    Ore Longsword: Your first one-handed weapon made with magic ore. The process is the same as the Self-Forged Sword, but also requires 1 lump of ore. Can be learned from Bennet.

    Ore Bastard Sword: A stronger one-handed ore blade. Requires 2 lumps of ore. Can be learned from Bennet.

    Heavy Ore Two-Hander: An even stronger two-handed weapon. Requires 3 lumps of ore. Can be learned from Bennet.
