Guide Gris through the Prologue, mastering the Eel and Light Puzzles, finding Mementos, and completing the Five Stages of Grief. Your journey starts here!

Hey there! So, you've just started Gris and found yourself in a bit of a pickle, huh? Don't worry, we've all been there. After that big fall, Gris is pretty shaken up. Right now, all you can really do is move forward. Just nudge the left joystick to the right, and she'll get up and start walking. As she walks, the world around her will slowly start to come back to life. Keep going!

You'll eventually collapse again after passing through a foggy patch. When Gris gets up this time, she'll be a bit quicker and, more importantly, she'll gain the ability to jump! She's as light as a feather now.

Five Stages of Grief: Denial

Before you go too far, there's a cool little challenge here related to the 'Five Stages of Grief'. Remember that spot where Gris first landed? Go back there for a moment. You'll see a small pillar and a collapsed statue nearby. Walk up to the statue, let Gris fall, and then let her get up on her own. Super important: don't touch the controller at all during this! If you do it right, you'll see a pop-up in the top right corner saying you've completed the 'First Stage of Grief: Denial'. There are five of these stages to find throughout the game, so keep an eye out!

Constellation Bridges

Alright, back to moving forward. The world gets a bit rocky, and you'll climb a big rock formation. Once you leap over the edge, there's no going back.

Keep heading forward until you spot a small, pulsing light. This is a Star! Walk up to it, and Gris will absorb it, gaining a little companion. Now, further on, you'll see some crumbling platforms, the first one marked by a tree with upside-down triangular leaves. Jump across these platforms, heading left, until you see a black mountain rising to your right. Keep climbing this mountain, and you'll find a second Star.

Just a bit ahead, you'll see a large gap. Your little star companions can create bridges, but you don't have enough yet. Luckily, there's a third Star nearby! Head up the stairs on the left to find a large, leaning tower. Climb the zigzagging stairs to the top. Your two little stars will automatically form a bridge, letting you reach a third Star on a smaller tower nearby.

Memento #1

Before you head back across that gap, there's a collectible called a Memento in this area. Go up the first staircase on the leaning tower, then jump to the left. You'll see a symbol on the ground – that's it! Step on it to activate it.

Now, return to the gap. Your three little stars will form a bridge. Cross it and keep going right until you reach a crumbling stone hand. A short cutscene will play, a burst of red will appear, and you'll get a notification: 'Red - A Color Has Been Brought Back'. You can check these 'Challenges' in the pause menu; the color ones pop up after completing each chapter.

The Temple and the Constellations

Continue on until you reach a massive staircase leading up to what looks like a temple. At the top, check the back wall – you'll see a pictogram with a leaning tower and two circles. If you found that Memento earlier, one of those symbols should be lit up.

Keep going until you reach a blood-red tree. Your little star companions will leave you here to form a constellation in the sky. You'll have to go on without them for now.

On the other side of the red tree, at the edge of the downward stairs, you'll see more symbols on black walls. These mark the game's chapters and have their own Mementos to find later.

Head down the stairs and keep moving right until you start sliding down a steep, red mountainside. Once you're on flat ground again, just keep heading right. You'll arrive at a black tower. As you get close to the top, Gris will automatically finish the climb, and a cutscene will play. And that's it – the Prologue is complete!
