Chapter 4 Cache Locations

As you progress through the early parts of Chapter 1, keep an eye out in the train cars and surrounding areas. After Alyx helps you out of the initial wreckage and you get your Gravity Gun, explore the overturned train cars carefully. Sometimes, ammo or health packs are tucked away in corners or behind debris. When you head into the mineshaft, before dropping down to lower levels, check shelves and ledges for suit energy or health. Later, after the transmission and you're heading back towards the mine entrance, look for items near the large block you use to kill the Black Head Crab. Once you're in the courtyard and need to open the gate, check the buildings and rooftops for anything useful before and after you activate the switch. After the elevator sequence, when you get your Pistol, there's a small cove with Pistol ammo and Suit Energy. Don't forget to check the areas where you fight the Acid Antlions; there's often ammo and health packs scattered around, especially near where you find the Shotgun.

This chapter involves a lot of vehicle travel and intense combat sequences. Pay close attention to the environments you pass through and the areas where you have to dismount and fight. Often, caches are placed just off the main path, in abandoned structures, or behind cover during firefights. When you're defending against Stalkers or other enemies, scan the immediate surroundings for any crates or containers that might hold supplies. If you have to get out of the vehicle to clear an obstacle, take a moment to look around the area before proceeding. Sometimes, a quick detour into a nearby building or a climb up a small embankment can reveal a hidden cache.

This chapter often features more confined spaces and stealth opportunities. Caches here might be more cleverly hidden, perhaps in ventilation shafts, small side rooms, or behind destructible objects. When you're navigating through abandoned facilities or tunnels, always check corners and dead ends. If you see any suspicious-looking crates or barrels, they might be hiding something. Listen for any audio cues that might indicate a hidden item nearby, though this is less common for caches and more for general pickups.

As you face off against tougher enemies and navigate more complex environments, keep your senses sharp. Caches in this chapter could be found in areas leading up to boss encounters or in the aftermath of significant battles. Look for items in elevated positions or tucked away in alcoves. Sometimes, destroying certain objects can reveal a hidden path or a cache. If there's a section where you're defending a position, check the perimeter thoroughly for any overlooked supplies.
